Chapter 11 : Power

Kid sipped his third glass of whiskey and looked at the window. It'd been an hour that he waited on them, but no one came out. Finally, the door opened and Lanniya and Killer walked out. She was holding the Hone Hone No Mi in one hand. She entered the bar and went straight to Kid. He looked intensely at her, waiting for her to say something. She was looking at the fruit silently.

- She was chosen, said Killer.

Kid smiled at her. She took the fruit in her hands to look at it. She was nervous about eating it.

- He said that it was a very powerful fruit, she said. 

- Eat it, Crane, said Kid with a huge smile. I knew you deserve it.

Lanniya obeyed and bit the fruit. Kid leant on his chair. She put her hand on her mouth and swallowed hardly.

- It's disgusting, she said.

Kid held her his bottle of whiskey. She had to take a shot between every bite. She finally finished the fruit. Her body started to shake uncontrollably. Kid took her and they all went outside. He was holding her in his arms, trying to cover her with his own coat the best as he could since her pants had so much holes that it could barely cover her legs.

- We need to go back to the ship. Lanniya, you need to rest to let the power get into you.

- It's OK... I can make it, she said, feeling her bones becoming warmer and sharpener.

She could hear Kid sigh. He wasn't believing her. He brought her in his cabine and sat beside her, while Killer went to sleep. She still had spasms.

- Do you know anything about the abilities you will get ?

- Yes... I will be able to control my bones and the others' by touching them.

- Gruesome. You will surely like it.

She laughed.

- I thought about making an army with animals' and people's bones, she continued.

- I thought about it. But first, you need to practice your power, he said coming closer to her. We are going to an island where you can do it. We'll be there tomorrow. You'll sleep here tonight. I want to watch if something goes wrong with you.

- Thanks captain, she said cuddling in his blankets.

Lanniya found him so sweet to care that much about her. But she knew her captain, he was cold and not the kind of guy who would be a gentleman.

When she woke up, he was asleep on the same chair. She smiled. Since her captain asked her to see him as a man, she couldn't stop but being more and more attracted by him. But she brushed it off, knowing that he would never have such feelings for her. She made your way to her room to change clothes.

She put a short, high boots, a top and a jacket. It felt good to be in fresh clothes. Meanwhile, Kid woke up and panicked to not see her in his bed. He rushed outside and went to her bedroom. She saw him rush into her room, panting.

- Hi, captain, she smirked. Didn't want to wake you up. You must have had a short night.

- Crane, please, I was scared.

- OK... Sorry, captain.

- Come out when you're ready, we are near the island.

The island was apparently desert. They made a little tour around and discovered another pirate ship. Lanniya put on your mask.

- What do we do about them, Kid ?

- Well it was not planned, but it will be fun to kick some butts.

They landed the ship on the coast and explored the forest. There were huge footprints of animals. Luckily, they didn't meet any of them. Instead, they found a camp of men dressed in rags and who screamed when they saw Kid. It made him laugh. Soon, they were captured and tied up.

- Please, let us at least return to our houses, begged one of them. Let us go away from this hell !

Kid smirked. Lanniya knew how he loved this hell they were talking about. She liked that about him : how he loved this lifestyle of chaos and destruction. Before, she would've found his behavior dreadful, but now, she was used to it. Her favorite psychopath.

- Hell ? But you knew it before you came ! It's not my problem if you were too weak for it.

He executed the one who talked in front of them. He laughed and turned to Lanniya.

- Your turn, Crane, he said, letting her do her job.

She had not had much time to control her power. She barely knew how to move a skull. She went to one and put her hand on his head. She pressed only a little bit and his skull cracked. She continued to do it, one by one, breaking their bones as if it was small wooden pieces. Kid watched her, pleased.

- Did you like it ? asked Kid.

She took off your mask to reveal a smile.

- It is just the beginning, Kid. I promise to you that I will become powerful.

The others went away. He went to her and put his arm around her shoulders.

- I know, pretty girl. You still want to train with me ?

- Of course, she laughed while winking at him. How could I spend time alone with my captain otherwise ?
