I banged into someone with a very hard chest, making me fall on the ground so badly. I tried to get up but my legs won't support me with a twisted ankle. The person I banged with gave me a hand to support me and without thinking I held his big hand with my tiny one. I could finally stand and without even giving a thought of thanking that person, I started walking towards the original place I was sitting. Suddenly my ankle with 3 inches high pencil heels twisted again making me fall in pain but this time those same hands held me upright. I actually felt safe.
"I'm really very sorry but can I help you?" asked the mysterious boy.
I stared into his bright brown eyes which looked very familiar. I felt like I knew him from somewhere. He had the same caramel hair as mine but darker.
"No, I'm fine. Anyways, thank you for helping me." As I was about to walk again I felt someone holding my arm tightly.
"Excuse me, what are you doing?" It was the same guy again.
"I'm not leaving you alone in this condition where you can't walk, all because of me. Let me help you."
"Fine, Can you tell me where Sydney is, the girl who hosted this party?"
"Oh! Yeah, I saw her near the bar. I think she was finding someone named Aurelia. Do you know her?"
"I am that someone," I replied. "Take me there."
He quickly carried me to where Sydney was. I thanked him again and he left.
I looked around and spotted Sydney alone sitting at the corner of the bar. I know this girl from grade 4 and just by looking at her, I knew she wasn't really happy. I tiptoed behind her and hugged her tightly.
She looked back.
"Hey." I said.
Her face was sore from quiet sobbing.
"Whoa, what happened?"
She hugged me tightly and started crying.
"Babe it's your party, you shouldn't be crying. Let's go somewhere else."
I wiped her tears with my thumbs and took her to the restroom without anyone noticing.
"So why are you crying Syd?"
She couldn't even look me in the eye. And I am very emotional, therefore I just couldn't bear it alone. I tried to hold back my tears for long. Just by seeing her, my eyes started to become watery too.
"Okay you need to vent it out. Speak."
She didn't even look at me and spoke "A few minutes ago, my dad's lawyer called me....."
She started sobbing again. I held her hand.
"Okay, go on."
"I had a doubt and just asked him and he confirmed it a few minutes ago."
"Confirmed what sweetie?"
"He confirmed... that my parents... are getting a divorce."
She cried to the extent where she could hardly breathe. I hugged and rubbed her back consoling her.
"Babe, Zachy and I are always here for you, don't cry."
"I know but....."
That's when someone knocked on the restroom door. I quickly pushed Syd into one of the cubicles and opened the door revealing Zach.
"Hey were you in the restroom like for 30 minutes straight?"
I fastened the door behind him. Then he stared into my eyes like he knew I was having bad intentions.
