"Dinner's ready," mom shouted from the kitchen.
All of us immediately went to the dining table and settled. I was between Ryder and Aarold. Andrew was sitting in front of me. The dinner was unusual, with a lot of new dishes. I was eating some of them for the first time.
"Mom, what's with these many new dishes?"I said, lightening up the mood.
"Of course, special things for special people," she said.
"How are they special?" Andy and I spoke together giving each other smiles.
"Just try to remember. You may come up with an answer."
Andy and I, having no interest in thinking of an answer, gave up. Finally my mom spoke up....
"Well you should remember all your friends, no matter what."
"We do, mom."
"No you don't because you didn't remember Ryder and Aarold, did you?"
"Mom we know they are our friends. Anything else?" Andy replied.
"What you don't remember is that they are your old friends and you used to hang out with them all day long, even though they didn't go to the same school as you."
Oh my God! Are they really those guys?
I think this is the reason why the names and faces felt so familiar.Everything comes flashing back...
__________________________________________________________________________________________________"Get ready quickly, we are going to the park!" Mommy shouted from downstairs.
"Is Zachy going to come momsie?" I asked, getting downstairs.
"Yep! We will pick him up from the Smith house. I'll drop him and I have some work to do so Lina will come and pick Zack up while you both will have to come on your own."
"Okay Mom! Will your best friend Syd join us too?" Andy shouted from upstairs.
"No! She's got some other work. Now come on Andrew!" I shouted, going outside.
I heard Andrew mutter something beside me.
The 13 year old us took our bikes while mom rode side by side with us in her car. We went to the park while mom took a turn to pick up Zachy cause he had got hurt in his leg and couldn't ride his bike."You wanna do a race sis?" Andy asked when we were about 200 m away from the park.
"Let's prove I'm better than you at cycling... 1... 2... 3... Go... !" with that we both went rushing to the park. I was leading. When we were just a few feet away, some rock might have come in between, I stumbled and fell on the ground. My knee and elbow started bleeding. Andrew parked his cycle and came running to me.
"You okay Lia? Oh god! You should have been more careful," he said holding me and taking me inside the park.
"It's nothing! I'm fine Andy! But don't tell this to mommy. She'll force me to go home and I don't want to spend the 1st day of my summer vacation at home," I said, hiding my pain.
"But-"
"No!"
"Com-"
"No! I'm fine Andy. There comes Zach."
"Hey!" I shouted, waving my hand so he could come to us.
"Andrew! Aurelia! Mrs. Parker just... What happened to your knee and elbow Aury?"
