The footsteps became louder and louder when I was about to enter my neighbourhood.
1...2...3... If within this time, I wouldn't have entered our street, I would definitely be somewhere else right now but god saved me and that's all I care about.
When I entered my street, the person was just a metre or two away from me but he did not try anything because now we were in the sight of many people.
"Hello Mrs. Pollet," I shouted to my neighbour who was sitting outside, doing some of her stuff.
"Hey! Haven't talked in a long time," she said. She is a wonderful lady. Old and alone but stronger than anyone can imagine.
"That's true! I'll come by later sometime tomorrow?"
"Anytime sweetie. You know I'm always free," she laughed.
"See you tomorrow," I said, walking towards my home with my chest pounding faster than a cheetah. Mrs. Pollet was my angel in disguise.
I had too much stuff going on in my mind and it was making me weaker day by day. First the nightmares, now someone trying to kidnap me. Am I in a movie? The moment I laid on my bed, darkness took over.
The morning was just as dull as it is everyday. I am not a morning person for sure. The nightmares are more punctual than my sleeping hours and now there was an addition of throwing up. My life is totally fucked up right now! I quickly brushed my teeth again and took a hot shower to get rid of tiredness. After putting on a black woolen loose crop top, light blue ripped jeans and letting my wet hair loose I trudged downstairs to see dad reading a newspaper and mom in the kitchen. Well, I was running a bit earlier today than my regular schedule. I greeted dad and went into the kitchen to help mom. She was making chocolate chip pancakes, my favourite....
"Is it my birthday?"
"Nah, cravings you know." she said, eyeing me as I climbed on the platform.
"Oh! Okay the baby also loves them." I said giggling.
"Yeah! Why do you look so pale Aurielia? Haven't you got enough sleep?"
"Do I? No, I'm getting good sleep.""Darling I know you're awake till 2 or 3 sometimes, I always hear you flush." Shit does it make that much sound?
"Mom! Couldn't a person get the urge to pee while sleeping?"
"Till I remember you are a heavy sleeper and you never got out of bed till morning." she said flipping pancakes.
I glared at her.
"What? I just want you to know, you can tell me anything okay, just don't go through everything alone. If there's some problem, please tell me, we can always sort it out okay." she said coming near me and holding my hands.
I got a thought of telling her everything, but she would get a load of everything. And in this condition, I didn't want my baby sister or brother to be harmed at any cost.
I got off the platform and hugged her tightly after assuring her not to hide anything. I kissed her belly bump and helped her set the table for breakfast.
I sat beside dad and rested my head on his shoulder as he ruffled my hair, trying to catch a few headlines.
We eat breakfast in silence. Silence often takes over our dining table during meals but it is always the comfortable type of silence. Us, thinking and organizing our thoughts. Everyone is always relaxed, but today, mother and father looked a little tense just like me. I was pulled out of my thoughts by my annoying brother.
"Hello people! Why so sirius?"
"Why so nosy?" I retorted back with an uninterested and tired voice.
