"Andrew give me the keys. Now!" I shouted like a freak.
"Chill! What happened?"
"No time. Just give me the damn keys!" I repeated.
"I'll come," he offered, handing me the car keys.
"No! You don't need to. I'll go by myself and call Zach or Dylan for a ride in the morning if I haven't come back," I said, starting the car.
"Text me when you reach and what this shit is about. Okay?" he shouted, as I drove off.
In no time I reached the hospital. I tried to remember where Ryder had taken me and thankfully, I did remember.
I entered the ward, my hands trembling. Ryder's family and Aarold's mom and Aarold were already in the room. Lorelie's eyes were open and she was talking with her parents. I quietly crept in and held Ryder's arm who was standing near her bed. Mr. and Mrs. Kierston just nodded on seeing me. Mrs. Dalsy also did the same. Ryder, held my arm firmly as if to keep himself steady. Tears started forming in my eyes too.
"Hey! Don't cry," Lorelie said. She might have seen me enter.
"I'm not," I said, trying to put on a smile for her, but failed. I went to her and hugged her. Even though we hadn't had much time together, I had this connection with her. The sister kind and I felt like my sister was dying.
"Take care of my brother for me," she whispered.
"I promise," I whispered back before she closed her eyes with a wet smile on her face.
As soon as she closed her eyes. The tears I had been controlling started rolling down and so did the tears of other people in the room. Aarold had a few tears but not as much as us. I went near Ryder, who was crying too, and hugged him. He hugged me back. His touch felt something else but I could only feel the pain of her death.
Mrs. Kierston cried on her husband's shoulders. After a while, the doctor came and all the formalities or whatever was to be done was done. I left after a while after telling the others goodbye. It was already around 9:30 pm. When I was leaving, Mrs. Kierston thanked me. I don't know why.
"What had happened?" Andrew asked, as soon as I reached home.
"She died," I replied, my voice low and sad.
"Oh," he said only that and started surfing on his phone again.
"Dinner is in the kitchen. Mom and Dad are already asleep," Andrew said, just when I was about to ask where they were.
"I don't really feel like eating. I'm going to sleep," I said, going upstairs to my room.
Sydney and Zach had texted asking how my mother was. I replied that she was fine. Then I saw Cole's message and his missed calls.
I called him back.
"Hey!"
"Why didn't you pick my phones? Are you fine?" he asked with a concerned voice.
"My mom had a miscarriage yesterday so I was busy with all the work. That's all. Sorry for not picking up your calls," I replied with a tired voice.
"Are you really okay?" he asked again.
"No. But I'll be fine tomorrow."
"Just take care."
"I will."
"Sleep tight. Good night Aury!"
"Good night to you too," I replied. I was kinda feeling guilty for not telling him about all this and for being with Ryder and almost kissing him.
