"Bye!" I waved Cole goodbye after he dropped me off at my house. Today was the same. Ryder had come to school but he didn't even acknowledge my presence. I tried talking to him but he ignored me. I also told Aarold about this but he said that Ryder needed some time to heal. Cole just dropped me off at my house and I had called Syd and Zach over for a sleepover. Tomorrow was Saturday so no worries and my mom wanted to meet them too. Dad has been working a lot because he missed 2 to 3 days when mom had a miscarriage. He works at home half the time and the other half, he works at the office.

"Hey, dad!" I said, shocked that he was at home right now.

"Aury! How was your day?" he said, making place for me, beside him on the sofa.

"Fine. How was yours?" I asked, plopping down beside him and placing my head on his shoulders.

"Better than yesterday." We both laughed.

"What's the new case about?" I asked.

"It's about a murder," he replied.

"What? I didn't know someone was murdered!" I said, shocked at the news.

"Chill! I'm joking," he laughed.

"Don't joke on such matters dad!" I replied.

"As you say my princess," he replied.

"You should go spend some time with mom."

"Well actually, we are going out tonight to this hotel I booked. We'll be staying there. She doesn't know so don't even tell her. I want it to be a surprise," he whispered.

"Awww!" I cooed.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"I wanted to keep it a surprise and I know you wouldn't have let it be," he replied.

"I would have!" I protested.

"Would not!"

"Fine! But I could have helped."

"I am way more romantic than you think princess," he replied.

"Sure!" I muttered. After that, we talked for a little while. That dad daughter talk. Mom came dressed in a simple gown and her and dad left after I praised her outfit and bid them goodbye. She really wanted to meet Zach and Syd but she prefers dad over them so...

As soon as they left, Zach and Syd arrived.

"Yo babe! What's hot?" Syd said, plopping on to the sofa.

"Sun!" I replied, putting on Friends on the TV.

"Don't do that Aury. That's lame!"

"That's smart!" I defended myself.

"So what's up with you and Martha?" I asked Zach who was sitting on the other couch, concentrated on watching Friends.

"Nothing. We're just friends," he replied.

"No, you're not. I have to keep 3rd wheeling you guys just because mom thinks that I am wasting fuel by driving my car to school. She's become so much like this after Dad left," she said, her voice full of sorrow. They got divorced in the next day or two after Syd got the news. Syd had cried just for some time but then she was over it. She said that she knew this was gonna happen by the way her father had been acting distant in the past year. Anyway, she is not affected by that fact a lot now.

"Oh please!"

"Aury, you should see how they make those puppy eyes at each other. Oh my god! It's so uncomfortable," Syd said. I just kept laughing.
