The other day was no better than the day before. I woke up early and went for a jog, maybe I would get to meet Ryder. No luck with that. Coming home I saw mom working and helped her in cooking breakfast. I fried bacon while she did the eggs. As promised, she could only go to the NGO for 2 hours at any time of the day. She chose the morning. I don't get how people can be morning people. I would lounge about till noon if no one disturbs me. After freshening up, we sat for breakfast and Andy joined us.

We left for school and mom left for the NGO.

As usual, I met Syd and Zach. I saw Syd looking at Andy and nudged her out to reality.

"Looking for someone?"

"Shut up," she said, blushing and dragging me along.

I had AP English with Aarold. He was already sitting on his seat texting someone. I slided into the seat beside him. He was so engrossed that he did not notice my presence.

"Hey! Nice haircut."

"Hi. Thanks."

"Please give these to Ryder," I said holding out his assignments.

"Sure. But why don't you give them yourself? Nothing like both of you don't meet up every night right?"

"Excuse me?"

"Excused!"

"Do you have to be a jerk all the time? I have a boyfriend for god's sake."

"That's the problem," he muttered.

"What problem?"

"I don't have any." We were eye fighting. Wait, is there even something like eye fighting?

I gave up. There's no point in arguing with him. It would only waste out energy.

"Are you gonna hand them over?"

"Yup." he said, snatching the sheets.

A few minutes later, (teacher) walked in and handed us a surprise test of the concepts learned in the lecture conducted before. I had completed the test because I knew all the concepts. Others were about to complete when the door was swung open by Andrew. Wait Andy? What is he doing here? He was breathing heavily as if he had just won a full marathon.

"Aury, come on fast. Really urgent. Leave your things." he blurted out that much and left. Left?

Whole class was looking at me. I wasted no time and followed him out of the class. I quickly settled in the car and he drove off in full speed.

"Will you care to tell me what happened?" I asked calmly.

"Mom fell in the NGO and she is in the hospital," he replied, not taking his eyes off the road.

I was speechless. I couldn't think of anything to say. We told her not to go to the damn thing right now.

"How?" was the only thing I managed to speak.

"I don't know," he replied, and just then stopped the car. I wasn't even aware that we had reached the hospital. We quickly hurried to the reception and asked for Mom's room. We quickly went to room no. 101 where mom was currently being held.

"Mom!" Andrew and I both shouted when we saw her lying on the bed with dad beside her holding her hand.

They both were crying.

"What? How did...happen?" I stuttered. Andy held me as he knows I cannot stand hospitals.

"I'm sorry." she sobbed.

"Sorry for what, mom?" Andy snapped. The only person who was not crying was him. He can hide emotions really well. She started sobbing even more.

"Guys I'll talk to you, please wait for me outside." Dad gestured to us to leave. As we were about to leave, mom spoke up.
