******************************************+She was standing in the meadow, withered dandelions surrounding her. She gazed over the field covered with them, moon light giving them a weird undertone. On a distant she saw someone standing under a willow tree.
"Hello?" she asked but no response. She wanted to see who it was so she took a step forward, dandelion seeds flying around her, startling her. She knew she had to destroy them if she wanted to walk forward. After a moment of hesitation she started to walk towards the tree, her eyes on that person, thousands of dandelion seeds flying around her, a lot of them stuck in her hair and flowy black dress. The closer she got the more recognizable the person got. It was a man, standing his back facing her. Dark long hair and dark clothes.
"Ronnie?" she asked touching his shoulder. The man turned around and looked at her, not saying anything.
"It is you." she said glad. He gave her his usual grin making her happy in an instant. But then his grin faded as he started to couch and spat out water.
"Ronnie!" she said panicking. He shook his head and kept couching out water, taking gasps in between until he fell on his knees.
"Ronnie!" she started crying, feeling helpless. She crouched down, her hand on his shoulder "Just breathe, Ronnie!" He laid down on the ground gasping, still couching water. Suddenly she felt sharp pain in her abdomen and cried out, curling up next to him.
She jolted up, holding her round belly, gasping, tears in her eyes. When she realized it was a dream she sighed, running her hand through her sweaty hair "Fucking real.." But then she realized that there was something warm and wet between her legs so she lifted the blanket.
"Oh shit.." she gasped, realizing her water broke. She got up to grab her phone to call her mom.
She gave birth to a baby girl, crying when she arrived, whining to her mom "I miss him!", "No don't call Robert! I don't want him here! He's not the father of my baby!"
Next day her parents came back to the hospital to help her with the baby while she showered. She had just finished breastfeeding her daughter when there was a knock on the door.
Russell came to visit her in the hospital. Her dad was on his feet right away, wanting to know who he was.
"Dad, stop it!" she stood up going between them and looked at Russell, smiling sweet "It's Ronnie's dad Russel."
"Are you kidding me? Sam, this family has brought you nothing but shame and heartache!" he pointed on Russell.
"Ronnie did. Yes. But you can keep them away from Willow." she said desperate, pointing on her newborn daughter. Sam had spent time with Russell and created a bond between them. He felt like family to her.
"You're making a big mistake, Sam." her dad warned.
"I already did, dad. Now it's time to fix it." she said sad. He nodded, bitterly, accepting the reality and walked out, angry and irritated. She sighed sad.
"I'm sorry." Russell said, Sam cutting him off "No, I'm sorry you had to hear all this shit."
"Here." he came out of the moment and gave her flowers. She smelled them smiling and said pointing her hand towards the crib "Come meet her."
He stepped closer, mesmerized by that tiny creature. He filmed the baby for Ronnie, saying "Look, a healthy baby girl. Willow. Hi, Willow." He also filmed Sam wiping away tears. She was too proud to say she missed him, so she just smiled awkwardly for a moment then looked back at her daughter. She gave her to him and took a picture.
"How is he?" Sam asked sad "They only say so little when I call."
"He's holding on." he said "As you know, the beginning was hard, he was withdrawing from all the drugs, but he's been doing a lot better."
"Good to hear." she said serious.
"You know, he's been asking about you." Russel said glancing at her. She sighed "Russell, I know he's your son, but he's such an asshole." she said shedding a tear.
"I know...I'm not defending his actions, but I just want you to give him a chance." he pleaded.
"Chance for what? He disrespected me, he lied to me.. he..he probably cheated on me...he.. " she burst to cry. Russell brushed her shoulder, not knowing what to say, so he just let her cry. After she had calmed down, she said "I doubt there's ever going to be something more that was before he hit the rock bottom. But.." she took a deep breath "I try to be there for him." She sighed "We will be there for him. Tell him that."
"Thank you, Sam. I will." he said thankfully, they hugged and he left. She sat down thinking about Ronnie, how things were, how they would be in the future. Everything she had said to Russell minutes ago, was so difficult to her. She had been hurt, she was still hurt. But she couldn't deny Ronnie. She knew it would take time but she was determined to get in good terms with him.
