One day she got back from grocery shopping with Willow and was taking her out of the car. She glanced up and saw him sitting on the bench in front of her house.
He stood up, nervous, restless, anxious, looking the ground in front of him, running his hand through his hair.
"Ronnie.." she was surprised.
"Hey." he said and took few steps towards her "Let me help you." She gave him the baby with a safety seat and took the bags on her shoulder. He followed her inside, looking at his daughter. Inside he carefully lifted the seat on the kitchen counter and looked at their baby.
"How are you?" Sam asked looking at him. He had cut his hair a bit and was looking fresher. He glanced at her and sighed "Better."
"You look better." she said and added hesitating "Been busy?"
"You mean did I fell back on the old tracks?" he snapped and added "I mean the whole media gossips!" She was quiet so he said out loud "I didn't, Sam! I fucking went clean in prison!"
"I believe you." she said quickly but it was too late. He was pissed "Sam, I'm trying to... " he took a deep breath and said calmer "..fucking cope with everything. Getting things running again, I mean, they ditched me, when I fucking.." he took a deep breath "I put my soul into this band!"
"It's okay.." she said but it didn't had any affect on him.
"Don't fucking say it's okay, when it isn't!" he snapped at her, slapping his hand on the counter, making her take a step back. She glanced nervously at Willow who had started to shift.
"What?" he asked confused "You thought I was gonna hit you? Really?" She didn't know what to say. The truth was that she didn't know him at all, other than what was said in the media.
"No, I just.." she said.
"Are you serious right now?" he asked pissed, making Willow fuss. She tried to rock her to sleep again.
"You're waking up Willow." she said but he cut her off "You know what, fine! Believe the fuck you want!" he marched towards the door.
"Ronnie..." she tried to stop him but he yanked his arm away "No! Just..." She stood in place and let him walk away. She felt miserable, confused. She wanted to cry, but she had cried too much already. Instead she sighed loud, rubbing her palms over her face and breathe in and out for few times.
After a moment she was pulled back in the reality by Willows grumpiness. She started to unpack the bags and talked to Willow, calming her down. Tho she was the one who needed consoling.
He rushed away from there and drove around for some time to wrap his head around things. Mostly regretting the way he had acted.
After that he was a-wall for some time. But she was patient. There wasn't actually anything she could do but to go on with her life and take care of their daughter. She was strong, most of the time. But there were days she lost all hope. The days she felt depressed and like nothing went like it should have been.
It happened to be just a day like that. She hadn't slept properly because Willow had upset stomach or something she tried to figure out the whole night. She also had gotten a parking fine and all the oranges she had picked in the bag at the grocery store, fell on the floor through a hole.
She just had dropped her keys in front of her apartment door. She cursed the day again when she was picking them up, on the verge of tears. Fucking shitty day!
