Clementine x Male Reader: Enemy Within

Chapter 1

One Year Later

You run through the woods while ducking and dodging through trees. You jump over a few logs and run through some shrub without looking back. You can hear their footsteps getting closer and closer.

You reach a river with a dirt road next to it and jump over a big log and hide behind it. You wait a few seconds and you don't hear the footsteps anymore. You think about peaking your head out but you realize they might be waiting for you.

Y/N: "Come on, fellas. I know you're still there!"

Bullets hit the log and you flinch a little.

Y/N: [sigh] "So you're not gonna let me out of this? It was just an outpost, you deserved it!"

You hear the sound of a truck approaching. You peak your head out of the log and see a white truck with a gun turret in the cab. The man controlling the turret starts spraying bullets into the log.

You immediately bolt away from the log and run through the trees trying to get to cover. You stop behind a wide tree and wait until you realize you're heading the wrong way.

Y/N: "Shit!"

You peak your head out and see the man loading more bullets into the turret. You pull your crossbow out and peak one more time.

You run past the dirt road and the man starts shooting at you. You shoot the man in the skull with the crossbow while diving into the tree line.

You quickly get up as the other men start approaching you while shooting their rifles. You accidentally dropped the crossbow but you can't go back or else you'll get killed.

You continue running while turning back every now and then to shoot your pistol. Bullets are hitting the floor and trees around you but you continue dodging them. You reach a small cabin and try to run inside. You try to open the door but something is blocking it.

You take a step back and kick the door open. A walker jumps out at you and tries to bite you. You manage to push it back and a bullet flies into its head. More walkers come out of the cabin and the men start shooting at them. You take the opportunity to run for it while the men are distracted.

You finally lose them after a while of running and start heading back home. You walk through the woods to make sure you aren't being followed. You walk in silence, still frustrated that you lost the crossbow. You can't go back now because you'll get killed, but you're definitely going back for it. Leslie gave that crossbow to you and you'll be damned if you just lost it.

You look around but you don't see anything so you continue walking. You start getting tired of walking but you push through it as you see the gates of Sunset.

Clem POV

You leave your house and stand in the porch. You watch as people pass by each other looking happy and safe. This is what you wanted for AJ and yourself. Now you finally got it, but it didn't come without trouble. You thought you were finally free of it, but now it's come back again.

You hear the door behind you open and see Violet come out. She stands next to you as you both look off into the distance.

Clem: "Hey."

Violet: "Hey. What are you doing?"

Clem: "Nothing, just hanging out."

Violet: "Is Y/N back yet?"

Clem: "No, still waiting."

Violet: "He told me what happened a year ago. I'm surprised you didn't accept."

Clem: "He was supposed to keep quiet about it."

Violet: "I still don't understand why you said no. Isn't that what you wanted?"

Clem: "I did, but we have too much on our plate right now."

Violet: "Apparently not too much for him to come over almost every week and for you guys to have-"

Clem: "No no no, you shouldn't be talking!"

They both giggle.

Clem: "But in all seriousness, everything that's been happening with The Maulers has been keeping us busy. I feel like a relationship wouldn't work right now."

Violet: "I understand. So, friends with benefits?"

Clem: "Vi!"

You look over at the gates and see them open. You see as an exhausted and stressed Y/N walks in and closes the gates behind him. You immediately leave the porch and approach him.

Y/N POV

You pat the gatekeeper on the back and continue walking. You see Clem approaching you and you hug her once she's close enough. You quickly kiss each other on the cheek and she starts checking you for any injuries.

Clem: "Are you okay? What happened?"

Y/N: "I'm fine, Clem. Just ran into some trouble."

Clem: "I told you, you should've brought someone with you."

Y/N: "It was a small outpost, I thought it would be fine. Turns out, it wasn't."

She shakes her head while crossing her arms. You put your arm around her and start walking with her.

Y/N: "Come on, let's go see Ellie."

Clem: "She's at my house."

You both walk to Clem's house. When you enter you see Ellie on the floor playing with her toys. She sees you and stands up, she walks over to you and you pick her up as she giggles.

Y/N: "You are so big, baby!"

You kiss her on the cheek and sit on the couch with her. Clem sits next to you and watches the both of you play.

Clem: "What exactly happened?"

Y/N: "Well, let's just say there were explosions and lots of bullets. I probably pissed them off even more."

Clem: "How are we gonna stop this?"

Y/N: "I need to figure out who their leader is and where they're staying at."

Clem: "And how did you do that? It's been a year and you still haven't fully explained it to me."

Y/N: "They attacked us first. I captured one of their guys and... forced him to tell me where they were."

Clem: "Let's try it again."

Y/N: "It's not that easy. They're stronger than before, military grade equipment. That's also another thing I'm worried about."

Clem: "What?"

Y/N: "The equipment they have, it's similar to the equipment we brought back a long time ago. We got that off of some military men."

Clem: "You think they could be working together?"

Y/N: "Yeah, but we only ran into a small platoon of them before. I don't know how many of these military men there are."

Clem: "But they're probably just trading with them, they have no reason to attack."

Y/N: "The thing is, they do. We didn't take that equipment off of them nicely."

Clem: "Y/N."

Y/N: "It happened a long time ago, besides they killed some of my people. I wasn't gonna let them get away with it."

You both sit in silence as you think.

Clem: "What do you wanna do?"

Y/N: "I don't know. At least they haven't attacked, yet."

Clem: "Well they might have heard that Sunset is the most dominant settlement in northern Virginia."

Y/N: "Quite an accomplishment. Bad thing is we've made many enemies."

Clem: "Well, I'll support you with whatever you want to do."

Y/N: "I know. Thanks."

You smile at each other and spend the rest of the day together.
