Summary
You get panic attacks a lot. you haven't told your friend and they find out on the worst moment. they try to calm you down but only JJ succeeds.
Sitting outside looking at the water has always been something to calm you down. You had panic attacks a lot when you were a kid. You never knew why. Yes, you were an over thinker, but the panic attacks sometimes happens at the most random moments. Nobody was able to calm you down, but the waves and the smell of the ocean. Your father was the one person that was able to calm you down. When you had a panic attack, he knew exactly what to say and what to do. You grew up and the panic attacks got less, until your dad died a few months ago. You were a mess. Being with your friends was the only thing that kept you going. As soon as you were alone, you broke down, started to think and got a panic attack. Nobody can calm you down, so you come to the beach as much as you can. Hearing the waves has been keeping you calm. Your friends don't know about the panic attacks. You have a feeling that your best friend knows, but she doesn't say anything about it and you're glad. You don't want them to know. You don't want them to find out.
"Y/N, what are you doing here in the middle of the night?"
You look up, shocked by the voice you're hearing. JJ, one of your best friends, sits down next to you on the sand. "Couldn't sleep," you simply said. It's true. As far as your friends know, it happens a lot. They think that's why you go to the beach in the middle of the night, because you can't sleep. "What are you doing here?" you ask JJ.
"My dad is kind of in a bad mood, so I'm just waiting it out," he said. You could hear the pain in his voice.
"Then why the beach?"
"Don't want to bother John B." You only nodded your head. You understood JJ more then he would ever know. He didn't want to talk about his problems, because he didn't want to bother anyone else. He didn't want people to pity him and you got that.
You layed down on the sand and closed your eyes. You finally felt like you'd be able to get a good night sleep. The feeling of the sand between your fingers made you smile, reminding you of all the good times you had with your dad.
"Y/N, are you sure you're good?" You heard JJ softly ask. You didn't answer him. Right at this moment, you were perfect.
"I'm perfect," you whispered and focused on the waves again.
JJ looked at you. He knew that something was wrong. He had a feeling but he couldn't place it. Seeing you on the beach at night all by yourself scared him. So many things could've happened. He looked at you, while you layed down on the beach and closed your eyes. There was a small smile on your face. It was genuine, one he hadn't seen in a while. He looked at you and saw how your breathing got even. He couldn't help but smile. You really fell a sleep on the beach. Once he knew you were a sleep, he lifted you up and started to walk to John B's place. It wasn't far from where they were and JJ knew both of you would be safe there. JJ layed you down on the couch on the porch. It was the perfect night to stay outside. The night was hot, but just cool enough. He sat down on the chair across from you and looked at you until he fell asleep himself.
It took you a minute to figure out where you were at first. You didn't hear the waves or smelled the beach. You sat up and looked around. JJ was sleeping in the chair across from you. Looking around you discovered that you were at John B's place. How did you get here? You didn't remember leaving the beach. The front door opened and John B looked at you with confusion all written over his face.
"What are you doing here?" he asked surprised.
"I... I don't know," you said. "I was at the beach last night, because I couldn't sleep. JJ came. I layed down on the beach and woke up here." John B started to laugh.
