I head back to my cabin, and find only Kayla there. She watches me walk in.
'What?' I ask, as she continues to stare.
'You're happy.' She says.
'Am I not allowed to be happy?' I reply.
'Did Nico find you?'
'How'd you...?'
'He came into the infirmary looking for you.' She says, smiling, 'so things are going well?'
I bite my lip for a moment, trying to keep it in, but I can't help it.
'I really like him. Like really like him.' I say, 'he's just so...'
'Hot?' She offers.
'Well yeah, but we get on. I like hanging out with him.' I say, 'but he's so...I don't know. Shy, I guess. He doesn't want a relationship.'
'Are You okay with that?'
'I mean, I get it. The stuff he's gone through...it's insane.'
'That's true.' She agrees.
'You can't tell anyone.' I insist, 'he'd freak if he knew you knew.'
'My lips are sealed.' She says, 'but you better keep me updated.'
'Deal.' I say.
