NICO
I wake fairly late. When I get to the dining area, people are already there for lunch. But that's not where people's attention is.
A couple shouts come from the side. A small crowd of onlookers. I move over, hesitant. Two people fighting. Clarisse and a boy I don't know. Whoever the other boy is, people seem pretty adamant on not getting involved. No one steps in to break them up. Or st least not at first.
I'm just about to leave them to it when I see Will heading over. He sees the fight and rushes over to break them up. I almost call out his name to stop him, but don't quite.
He steps between them, and neither pay him any notice, too worked up to realise or care. He gets knocked in the stomach once, and then in the head. I'm already rushing over when he drops to the ground.
Clarisse and the boy don't stop, so I intervene. I grab the boys arm, twist it round, and flip him over so he lands on his back. He's winded and doesn't make a move to get up.
I turn to Clarisse, but I know she won't go easy. I intervene a hit and take hold of each of her hands. As a last resort, no hands left, I head-but her as hard as I can. She's dazed, and I use the confusion to trip her up backwards. She doesn't move form where she lands either.
It all happened in a matter of seconds. I'm by Will's side, checking his breathing, in an instant. He's breathing fine, but he's completely out.
'Someone deal with them.' I say to the crowd of onlookers, as I pick Will up carefully and head towards the infirmary without another word.
I kick the door to the infirmary open, and am greeted by a perplexed Kayla.
'What...oh my Gods, what happened?' She exclaims as she sees I'm carrying Will.
'He tried to split up a fight between Clarisse and some guy. Bloody idiot.' I say, 'He got hit in the stomach and head.'
I place him on an empty bed and Kayla shines a light into each of his eyes.
'Is he okay?' I ask, hovering to one side.
'He might have a concussion but I can't be sure till he wakes up. He'll be fine though, you don't have to worry.' She says.
'I'm not wor...' I trail off, staring at her. I don't know what makes me so sure, but I know that she knows.
'You okay?' She asks me, not fully paying attention.
'He told you.' I say, slowly. She pauses, looks up at me.
'Told me what?' She asks, but we both know it's too late.
'He did, didn't he?' I ask again.
'I already basically knew. I put it together.' She says, quickly, 'I haven't told anyone, I swear.'
'Just...' I don't know what to say. I don't know if I'm angry or not. I can't tell, 'Just make sure he's okay.' I say bluntly. I stand for a moment before turning to leave.
