The sun shines bright through the tinted windows of the crowded halls filled with student's in Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Your arms were wrapped around your books securely in hopes of not dropping them and losing the notes needed for Potions. You were walking pretty fast towards your next class, potions, because you were already running late
"ten points from Gryffindor for being late Ms.L/n" slughorn hissed as you entered the classroom. You mentally rolled your eyes and groaned at him but decided it was best not to say anything and made your way to your shared desk with this snarky rude Slytherin boy. After sending you one last small glare Slughorn went on about The draught of peace. Which you weren't really paying attention to.
Your eyes wandered from the front of the classroom to where your long time crush, Regulus Black, was quietly writing down notes. His movement's were so mesmerizing, the fast movements of his hand writing with his quill, his black hair falling into his eyes with his sudden movements, and the way he bit his lip while concentrating. All of it made your heart start fluttering in your chest, but you had to look away because Regulus looked up from his paper sensing someone staring at him.
"Alright where was i?..right, what are the ingredients you use to make the draught of peace?" Slughorn asks looking around the room. A few people on the Gryffindor side raised their hands because their brave enough to answer Slughorn when he's in a bad mood. Slughorn's eyes scanned the hands in the air but his eyes lingered on you for a second until a hand on the Slytherin side slowly shot up. You looked over and saw Regulus was the one who raised his hand. Slughorn smiled and turned to face Regulus's direction. You looked closer at his raised hand and noticed his robe sleeve slip down a little, it took a brief moment for you to notice the small part of a bandage on his arm. You gasped which got you some weird looks from the people around you, you just gave them a small embarrassed smile and turned your eyes back to Regulus.
"...and powdered moonstone" Regulus finished daring to look at the professor with a small smirk on his lips. Professor Slughorn gave a fake smile his way and went back to saying stuff about the potion.
After Slughorn dismissed the class you grabbed your books and left the room giving one last concerned glance at Regulus. You were curious as to why he had the bandages on his arm but you were more concerned that he tried to hide them. You decided that you would go to the Library and study for your transfiguration test tomorrow. The library was mostly empty when you got there and went straight towards the back where you usually work/read.
You put the finishing touches on your homework assignment and smiled at how quickly you finished. You don't usually finish work this fast but i guess you're just in the mood right now. Putting the books back into your bag you stood up and left the library.
It was pretty late and you knew that you weren't going to go to sleep anytime soon no matter how hard you tried, so you walked up to the the third floor bathroom to talk to Myrtle because you know how lonely she gets. You were one of her only friends but you didn't mind that at all. You walked up to the door and pushed it open. The sight in front of you made you shocked but it made you also feel kind of scared.
Myrtle was floating to the side watching the scene trying to get Regulus to stop doing what he was doing but he wasn't listening. Regulus was standing in front of a completely shattered mirror with a piece of the mirror in his hand. You were right earlier when you saw the bandages because they were on his arm with blood seaming through the fabric. He was in the middle of cutting his arm when you decided to speak up.
"R-Regulus put down the glass" You said as your voice wavered with fear for what he's doing. Regulus jumped, startled, and dropped the piece of glass on the floor and you could see a look of shock on his face. It took a moment for him to finally wrap his head around that you were in the doorway and when he did his mask of no emotion showed again on his face even though he was full with emotions.
"Go away" Regulus orders, his voice bitter, as he picked up another piece of glass in hopes that you would go away.
"Put the glass down" You retorted matching his tone. Your tone startled Regulus and you slowly made your way over to him. You held out your hand for him to hand the glass over with a stern look on your face. Regulus hesitantly handed it over to you but he wasn't happy about it.
"Why are you doing this?" You question him your voice full of concern and just a little worry hidden behind the concern.
"What does it matter to you what i do?" Regulus asks leaning up against the wall. You copied his actions which just made him more confused.
"Because i care about you" was your simple reply.
"I don't want your pity. You don't care about me. Nobody cares" Regulus' voice cracked as he finished. You looked over at him and realized that he was shaking.
Even though you have never actually been in this situation before you felt like you knew exactly what to do, which you did. You placed your arm around his shoulders and brought him down to sit on the ground still against the wall. The action shocked him and he tried to stop the tears from falling down his face but he failed and cold tears started streaming down his face. You wrapped your arms around him in a loving embrace, Regulus didn't know why but he felt safe in your arms and without thinking he buried his head in your neck. You rubbed circles on his back as you whispered sweet things to him as he cried. You said a lot of things to Regulus while he cried but one of them stood out the most.
"I love you" It came out of your mouth as a soft whisper but Regulus heard what you said and couldn't stop the smile that played on his lips as he melted into your touch.
