Sitting in my usual place on my windowsill, my eyes catch a glimpse of Blayze entering the forest. That cousin of mine, has no better thrill, than hunting down poor scared humans who risk entering this forest. Chasing them as they cry and stumble through the dark trees, is highly enticing to him. My head leans against the window frame as a deep sigh escapes my lips.

Unlike him, I do not enjoy the hunt. Especially now.

Already three days have passed by, since I last went to his home. Deeply I miss the thought of gazing at his sleeping face, he is so beautiful. Closing my eyes I groan in frustration. Keeping myself from running back there is tough. He is my mate, the last thing I want is to be separated from him. However this is what he wants, so I need to respect his choice. He is a human who believed vampires to exist only in stories. So to learn they are real? Naturally he would be terrified of the fact of being mated to one.

Though to a vampire, there is no greater pain than the refusal of your mate. Erin is human, he will live out his life then die one day. He will probably get married, have kids, everything I could not offer. Then there is me, I must now live the rest of my eternal life thinking only of him. Even once he is long gone from this earth, my mind will still only linger on him.

I fear what I may do, if I ever see him again. Knowing I would grasp onto his form, and never let him go.

A knock on my bedroom door pulls me from my thoughts, "come in."

With my eyes still closed I heard the door open, and the voice of my youngest cousin spoke up. "Thought I would come see how you were doing Drake." With his tone soft I opened my eyes and looked at him. Knowing him, he could hear my thoughts from the other room.

"I'm fine."

"Drake." He steps into my room, walking to stand next to me and my window. His purple eyes gaze out at the dark trees around our cabin. "None of us know the sensation that you are going through, you are the first one of us to actually come across your mate."

"A human mate." My lips spat out those words quicker then I intended. "How cruel can this world be?" A deep dry laugh escapes my throat. "Here I am, a vampire who despises all humans. How could I not? Humans killed our family, our coven, they continue to hunt us down. Yet fate throws me nothing more than a male human mate. Someone who fears the very sight of me."

"Don't think that way Drake, I know it's hard to right now. But you need to believe that he will come here, he will be drawn to you as you are him."

"I know you are trying to cheer me up Xavier, but trust me. He is most likely thrilled I stopped coming to see him."

My youngest cousin shook his head of red hair. "I bet he misses it." My eyes catch his gaze, as I merely stare at him. At times I forget how much of a damn romantic this cousin of mine is.

A soft meow was heard, as we looked to see Hazel at Xavier's feet. Bending down he picks her up and smiles softly. "Hazel agrees with me, she says just give him a little more time to adjust to the idea."

"You and that damn cat..." Suddenly my head snapped back to looking out the window. A light breeze hit my face as my heart started to race, I knew that scent.

"Do you smell that?" Xavier smiles happily. "Smells like that big idiot of a brother of mine, brought us some dinner. I am quite hungry."

My eyes opened as I turned to stare at Xavier, "wake the others."

"Drake?" Xavier gazed at me strongly, I knew what he was doing. His eyes opened wide, as he rushed to the door. "Hurry! You must stop him!" He cried out and hurried from my room, leaving me to jump down from my window only to land on the damp dirty ground.
