The once blood red gem. Now shone pure white.
"Drake!" Tears fell from my eyes, splashing upon his face. Why wasn't he waking up? "What did I do?" I suggested they each take an amulet. This happened because of me.
Sitting there holding onto my mate, I gazed around at his cousins. None of them were moving. As my hit each amulet, their blood gems were just like Drake's now. Pure white liquid gems.
Fear suddenly took my heart as the sky around us started to lighten up.
"Drake." Panicking I started to shake his body. "Drake you have to wake up!" My gaze flickered towards the mountains where the warm glow of the morning sunrise started to shine. "DRAKE!"
His crimson eyes slowly fluttered open, as my tears continued splashing his face. "Erin?"
"Drake!" Caressing his face, I then quickly helped him sit up. "You have to get up now!"
A groan slipped from his lips, as his hands moved to rub at his head. "What happened?"
"I don't know, something happened to the amulets. Then you all passed out."
His gaze went to each of his cousins on the grass. "We all seem to be fine."
"Drake, you need to leave. Hurry." His gaze met mine, and I couldn't stop my tears.
"What?" Standing up slowly, that was when he noticed it. The sunrise coming upon the hill fast. "No." Flickering his gaze at his still sleeping cousins, he rushed to them shaking each of them. "Get up!"
"Drake."
Watching Drake glance to the forest, we both knew it was too far to get all of his cousins there safely. "Erin no, I can't just leave them here and save myself." His words made me cry harder, as he got up and instantly rushed to hug me.
"But Drake, the sun."
"I know my love." cupping my face, he wiped away my tears with his thumbs. "Meeting you Erin, was the greatest thing to ever happen to me in my four hundred and two years of living. I wouldn't trade a single moment we shared together."
"I can't lose you. Not after just finding you." Grasping onto his shirt, I shook my head weakly. "Please don't leave me Drake, I love you."
Looking back towards the sunrise, the sky was growing brighter around us.
"Erin, look at me." Drake quickly moved my face towards him. Staring into his breathtaking crimson eyes, I didn't want to lose this feeling I had with him. "I love you Erin Stone." Leaning in closer my heart pounded. "Let me have one last kiss from the man I love." His words were soft, his voice deep. Capturing my lips in a kiss, it was pure passion and love for me.
Closing my eyes, my grip on his shirt tightened as I returned his kiss with my own. His hands wrapped around my smaller body, pulling me in tighter to him. The world around us seemed to come to a stop, as we stood there kissing and sharing our undying love for one another.
Tears glided down my cheeks, as I felt the warmth of the morning sun wash over my body. Pulling Drake in tighter to me, I was afraid to let him go as we remained kissing.
As our lips separated, opening my teary eyes I gazed upon my vampire before me. The sun shining on him, caused his black hair to shine, while the warm wind rustled it around his face. But there he stood standing, not hissing in pain. Not burning up.
"Drake?"
"I don't understand." Turning to his cousins, the sun was shining on them all. But not a single one was burning up, like I saw Drake do that first time in my room.
