-Y/n POV-

You approach the looming building as your heart thumps in your chest. It's been five years since you were last here, and you wondered if anyone would recognize you. Hell, you didn't even know if any of the same people would still be working here. Slowly, you walk through the automatic front doors, past the big concrete sign that reads "Musutafu National Hospital."

Walking up to the front desk, you see someone that you recognize right away. "Amy?"

The American girl behind the counter turns around to look at you, and raises an eyebrow. "Yes? How can I help you?"

"I don't know if you remember me... I'm Y/n L/n."

This time, both of her eyebrows raise. "N/n?"

You nod your head and she immediately emerges from behind the counter and engulfs you in a big hug, earning you some strange stares from some of the visitors. Being an American, Amy is much more used to this type of physical interaction than anyone else you know (besides your dad, of course). "I hardly recognized you, N/n! You've grown so much!"

"Yup, puberty will do that to you," you joke as she releases you.

"Haha! I've missed your sense of humor. When did you come back to Japan?"

"Dad and I returned about a month ago so I could go to UA."

"Ahh, studying to be a hero, I see?" She winks as she lightly rests her hand on your shoulder. You didn't want to have to explain to her that you didn't make it into the hero course, so you just went with it.

"Haha, you bet!" You were planning on eventually transferring into the hero course anyway, so it wasn't a complete lie. She seemed happy with your answer and gave you a bright smile before she softened her expression.

"Well, I know who you came here to see. She's down that hall... Room 102. It'll be on your left."

You nod. "Thanks, Amy."

"No problem." She smiles once more before letting you go and returning to work. You head down the hallway marked with a sign that says 'Psychiatric Ward,' and start reading the names and room numbers posted outside the patients' doors.

"... 96... 97... 98... 99..." You stop when you get to 100 to take another look at the name printed on the card. "'Mrs. Todoroki'."

You decide that you'll investigate that name some other time and continue heading down the hall. "... 101... 102." You finally come to a complete stop outside the room and face the door. Suddenly, you got a feeling of uncertainty in the pit of your stomach. "Maybe coming here was a mistake... NO. Don't think like that... You need to see her. You can't turn back now." Holding your breath, you knock on the door... Nothing.

*A/n: For some reason, people keep thinking that we're a Todoroki... We are NOT.  To clarify, we went to the next room over, meaning that we stopped at the room NEXT to Rei Todoroki's.

After waiting a few more seconds, you slowly turn the knob and push the door open. When the door is open wide enough for you to see inside, you find a figure sitting in a wheelchair in front of a large window with the sun shining through. They don't turn around when you step in the room and shut the door. You carefully drop your backpack on the ground and wring your hands nervously.

"Hi, Mom..."

-------------------------------

After returning home, you were mentally exhausted. All of the stress from your first day was finally catching up to you, and your visit to the hospital just made you feel even more tired. But you couldn't rest now... You had a bone to pick with your father.

"Dad, I'm home!" you called out as you kicked your shoes off by the front door and place your backpack on the floor. Your big Bernese Mountain Dog, Moose, trots up to you from around the corner and immediately asks for pets. "Hey, big guy!" you greet him as you grant his request by scratching behind his ears and rubbing the sides of his face.

Your Dad calls out to you then. "I'm in the kitchen, sweetie!"

"Hey, Dad" you greet him from the doorway to the kitchen. He turns to see you and gives you one of his signature smiles.

"Hey! I'm making fried rice. How was your first day?"

"Pretty good. Made some enemies, knocked some teeth... You know, the usual..."

"Heh, I'm glad to hear it."

You sat down on one of the bar stools in the kitchen and decided to go straight for the kill. "I also learned something very interesting today..."

You saw him glance at you out of the corner of his eye while he worked his magic on the stove. "Oh, yeah? What's that?"

"There's a boy in my class by the name of Hitoshi Shinso... And apparently, his uncle is Aizawa... Know anything about that?"

He pauses what he's doing and you see his eyes widen for a brief second before he begins beating the eggs in the bowl with more force than what was necessary. "Bingo."

Your dad and Aizawa met each other about ten years ago, when a villain broke into your dad's studio. After Eraser Head arrived on the scene and detained the villain, he showed interest in your dad's paintings and he even bought one right there on the spot. Since that day, the pro hero visited your dad's studio regularly, and the two eventually became close friends. Your dad is probably the only person that Aizawa talks to outside of his family and the hero industry.

"... Dad?"

"Hm?"

"Be honest, why didn't you tell me? It would've been nice to have had at least one friend when going into UA."

He lets out a long sigh before he finally sets the bowl down and places the whisk on the counter. "Honestly? ..."

You sit there, patiently awaiting his surely elaborate explanation.

"... It's because he's a boy."

"... Wait, seriously? Dad, what the hell?!"

"You're my little girl! And I didn't want to see you running off with boys at such a young age. Plus, he's got a pretty powerful quirk, and I didn't want to risk having him use it on you."

For the second time today, you couldn't believe your ears. You took a deep breath to calm yourself before responding. "... Dad... After what happened to me, I hope you realize now that it's wrong to judge someone because of their quirk. From now on, I'll be the one deciding who my friends are. And I've already decided that I want him as my friend... You're going to have to respect that."

There was a moment of silence before he finally took a deep breath and looked at you.

"Of course, sweetie... I'm sorry I kept that from you for so long."

"It's all right, Dad. I love you."

"I love you, too."

You decided to give him a hug to reassure him, which he gladly reciprocated. It was nice moments like these with your father that you cherished... That is, until he had to ruin it.

"But seriously... No boyfriends until you're thirty."

Gotta love Dads, amirite?  :)
