37 - Jealousy

-Y/n POV-

You watch in amazement as the members of class 1A team up to take out each of the rock monsters. Shoji and Jiro use their quirks to track incoming beasts, and everyone else uses their own quirks to destroy them. There were a couple of points where Bakugo and Todoroki were getting in each other's way... Clearly they didn't work together very well. Regardless, you'd never seen this level of teamwork in such a disastrous situation before... It was incredible! You didn't see Shinso the whole time though, and you could only hope that he hadn't gotten lost.

You grab your phone (which remarkably never got destroyed) from the pocket in your leggings and look at the time. "Eight hours... It's been nearly EIGHT FUCKING HOURS since we started." As you finally step out of the forest, you took a look at everyone around you... They had used up every ounce of their energy to fight off the monsters. You'd only dodged and evaded attacks the whole time, and you were already exhausted, so you could only imagine how dead-tired they all must've felt. You look up at the beautiful sunset. The density of the trees in the forest meant that you'd hardly seen the sky all day, and this was the most sunlight you've gotten since that morning... It was nice to feel its warmth on your skin once again.

Everyone emerges from the forest and approaches Aizawa and the Pussycats before stopping. Some of them even dropped to their knees in exhaustion. "You said it would only be like three hours!" Sero complained to the pink Pussycat.

"I guess we timed it based on how long it'd take us... Sorry!"

"God, I can't stand her."

"Now you're bragging about how much better you are?? That's so mean!" Sato whined.

Kirishima had fallen on his ass and he cried out, "I'm starving! This is HELL!!"

The blue Pussycat then said in her annoying voice, "Meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow, meow! I thought it would take you kids even longer! But you did much better against my dirt monsters than I thought you would!"

"Thanks for thinking so highly of us..."

Then she dropped her voice. "You guys were seriously great. Especially... The four of you!!" She pointed to Iida, Midoriya, Todoroki and Bakugo. "It seems like you've had quite a bit of experience!" She then licked her lips. "I CALL DIBS ON THESE KITTENS!! I'LL GROOM THEM, MYSELF!!!" She bounced all around them and they blocked her with their arms in annoyance.

"These girls are seriously weird..."

Midoriya then pointed out a small boy with a red hat that had golden horns on it. This kid was standing with Aizawa and the pink Pussycat and Midoriya asked, "Who is that kid? What's he doing here?"

"Oh, this little guy? He's actually my cousin's son, he just lives with us now!" the girl explained. "Huh... I wonder what happened to his parents..."

You learned that his name was Kota, and when Midoriya tried to introduce himself, the boy punched him in the nuts before walking away. "The hell is his problem?!"

The kid turned his head and snarled, "The last thing I want is to hang with some wannabe-heroes!"

"Whoa... This kid isn't fucking around."

Standing near Bakugo, you saw him smile. "That brat's got spunk..."

"He's like a mini version of you," mumbled Todoroki, causing you to laugh out loud. Bakugo got visibly ticked off and stomped toward him.

"WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! YOU NEED TO SHUT YOUR MOUTH BEFORE I BLAST YOU ALL THE WAY TO HELL!"

"Yeah, sure..." Todoroki retorted.

You stuck yourself in between them with your arms stretched out and faced Bakugo. As much as you enjoyed watching the blonde get angry, you didn't want to see him fight Todoroki anymore. "Guys, chill the hell out! We're all tired! So let's not gang up on each other, all right?"

Bakugo stared at you with his eyebrows furrowed for a moment. "Tch," he said, before turning to walk away.

"Thanks..." you heard from behind you. You turn around to face Todoroki and found him smiling at you. "I can handle myself, though." he added.

"I know you can," you replied. "But this is what friends do... They help each other."

"Are we friends, now?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow.

You got nervous all of a sudden and put a hand on the back of your head. "Did I read him wrong? Does he not want to be friends?"

"I mean... only if you want to be..."

He paused for a moment before smiling again. "All right, L/n... I'll be your friend."

-Shinso POV-

You were standing not far from L/n, so you listened in once again on her conversation with Todoroki. You watched as she smiled brightly and pulled out her phone, handing it to him. "Is he giving her his number??" You watched as he typed something into her phone before handing it back to her. "Why does she feel the need to get numbers from different guys?! First those dudes from 1B, and now Todoroki??" Once again, you felt jealousy bubbling up in your chest, and you clench your fist in frustration.

"Enough playing around..." you heard your uncle speak up. Even though he was addressing everyone, you glance over to find him watching you in particular with a slightly concerned expression on his face. "Get your stuff off the bus. Once your bags are in your rooms, we'll have dinner in the cafeteria. After that, you can bathe and sleep. Tomorrow, your training starts in earnest... You better get a move on." Everyone whined when he said that.

After moving your suitcase to your room, you and the rest of the students head inside and make your way to the cafeteria. "Shinso, wait up!" you hear L/n call out from behind you. As much as you want to keep walking, you force yourself to stop and wait for her to catch up.

"I didn't see you the whole time we were in the forest! I was afraid that maybe you got lost!" she said, smiling.

"Well clearly, I'm fine." You knew that you were being short with her, but you couldn't help it... You were annoyed.

She stopped for a moment and just looked at you in surprise at your tone. But she shook her head before continuing. "Anyway, do you want to have dinner together?"

"Why don't you go eat with your new boyfriend?"

"... Huh?" she looked confused.

"Todoroki... Why don't you go eat with him?"

"What are you talking about?" she still seemed unsure of what you were implying.

"Forget it." You didn't want to have to explain, so you turned and hurriedly walked away from her, leaving her standing there with a look of hurt and confusion on her face.

         Another sad moment, but don't worry!! It gets MUCH better in the next one, I promise!!!
