-Y/n POV-The three of you start heading to the cafeteria when a thought occurs to you. "What about Agoyamato?" you ask, turning to Shinso.
"What about him?"
"Is he gonna be stuck in a trance for a while, or...?"
"Oh, he'll be fine. With his friends around, one of them will snap him out of it eventually."
You nod your head, but you were still confused. "I probably shouldn't ask him too much about his quirk right away. He may not want to talk about it just yet." With that thought in mind, you decide to save your questions for another time.
As you enter the cafeteria, you see some of your classmates sitting together at a nearby table. They spot you and are clearly surprised to see you walking with Shinso. To make a point to them, you take a hold of Shinso's sleeve once more and lead him toward the food line, with Chikuchi not far behind. Little did you know that this small gesture was enough to cause a light blush to cover his cheeks.
-------------------------------
After the three of you grab your lunch, you head to the place where you and Chikuchi ate lunch the day prior. "This is a nice spot," Shinso comments as the three of you sit down in a triangle formation.
"It is, isn't it? I love the sakura trees..." You say absentmindedly, watching as the flower petals swirl around you in a breeze.
"Hang on..." Shinso suddenly leans toward you with his arm outstretched, hand reaching for the side of your head.
You freeze. "What is he doing??"
"Got it," he says, plucking a flower petal from your hair. As he tosses the petal to the side, you let out a breath that you didn't even know you were holding. You hear a snort, and look at Chikuchi in time to see her turn away and cover her mouth in her arm... She was trying not to laugh.
"You all right?" Shinso asks her, concerned.
She uncovers her mouth and sniffs dramatically through her nose before she responds in a nasally voice, "Yeah, I just thought I was gonna sneeze there for a second."
"Smooth..."
"Anyway, what should we talk about?" You try to start a conversation before some other embarrassing thing happens.
"Let's talk about quirks!" Chikuchi exclaims innocently, clapping her hands together.
"NO." You and Shinso respond simultaneously. You glance at each other, but neither of you seemed surprised by the other's sudden refusal. There was already some sort of unspoken understanding between the two of you regarding your quirks, as though both of you knew about each other's history. You had only speculated what had happened to Shinso in the past, but why was he not surprised to see you be so defensive over the idea of discussing your quirk?
"He definitely knows something."
"Ookkaayyyy...?" Chikuchi clearly had no idea what was going on... But maybe that was for the best.
"Uhm, how about music? Yeah! Let's discuss music!" you suggest in an attempt to decrease the level of tension in the air. "I really like rock music. I don't know if you could tell, but I'm actually half-American, so I like a lot of Western classics like AC/DC, Aerosmith and Queen."
"That's so cool! You know, I thought there was something different about you, but I couldn't figure out what it was." Chikuchi said, placing a finger on her chin. Shinso, however, didn't seem surprised to hear this information... And you were starting to get a little freaked out. "Just HOW much does he know about me??"
"What about music from around here? Do you listen to any Japanese rock?" Chikuchi asked.
"Actually, I do! I really like UVERworld, BAND-MAID and Lenny code fiction!"
"Jeez, do you like anything from this century?"
"Haha, no not really." You look to the third member of your party. "What about you, Shinso? What kind of music do you listen to?"
"I listen to everything," he replied, without so much as a hint of expression in his voice.
"Wow."
You thought for a moment, trying to see if you could debunk his claim. "So, what about... disco? Do you listen to disco?"
"Yes."
"What about pop?" Chikuchi chimed in.
"Yeah."
"Jazz?"
"Yup."
"R&B?"
"Mm-hm."
"Classical?"
"Uh-huh."
"Metal?"
"Yah."
"Electronic?"
"Yes."
"Opera?"
"Like I said... I listen to everything."
You were amazed. How could one person be into all of that?? "He's gotta be bullshitting... Right? There's no way!"
"Well, Shinso... You win the award for 'Most Well-Rounded Taste in Music'. Congratulations!" You began clapping and a smirk appeared on his face. You felt a sense of accomplishment in being able to make him smile, although you weren't quite sure why.
The rest of the lunch period was filled with more discussion on hobbies, past times, and other topics. You discovered that Shinso really likes cats and that he plays the bass guitar. You played the guitar (pretty damn well, one might add), but were too insecure about your skill level to tell anyone about it.
-------------------------------
Before you knew it, the school day came to an end and it was time for your ramen date. "No – it's not a date! Just a casual meeting between friends. That's all!" You quickly packed your bag as you mentally tried to convince yourself that you and Shinso were NOT about to go on a date.
Shinso waited for you by the classroom door as you got out of your seat, and you watched as Agoyamato passed by him on his way out. He didn't bump into Shinso or make any snarky comments this time, for which you were very grateful... You did not want to have to experience what happened before lunch a second time.
After leaving the classroom, you said your goodbyes to Chikuchi before you and Shinso headed toward the main entrance of the building. There's a ramen place not far from the school that you've heard good things about, so you decided to go there for your 'NOT-date.'
On your way there, your mind was swimming with the questions you had at lunch. "Does he know about my history with my quirk? And how did he figure out that I was half-American?" These thoughts troubled you all the way to the ramen bar.
Ramen 'NOT-date' in the next chapter!
