50 - Support Items

-Y/n POV-

"L/n!" You heard a crazed girl's voice call out from behind you as you and Shinso left the school building to go to lunch and you stopped to see who it was.

"Hatsume?" You had only just met her yesterday, so you were surprised to see her running up to you.

She finished running up to you, and you saw that she held two bags in her hands. "L/n! I finished your support item and I need you to test it out!"

"But it's only been a day – she said she'd have it ready in TWO days! ... And why couldn't she have tested it, herself?"

She answered your unspoken question with as much enthusiasm as always. "My quirk already allows me to see up to 5 kilometers away, so I need you to test the scope for yourself!" She held out one of the bags and you took it from her and reached inside, pulling out a sleek-looking item. She describes it excitedly. "This is 'The Finder'! It wraps around your head so the scope is placed over your eye, and these two parts go in your ears!" She pointed out each part of the device as she explained. "It also has a night vision mode that can be activated with this switch here!" She pointed to a small switch on the side. You carefully placed the item around your head, setting the small hearing aids inside your ears and the scope over your right eye. Some students gave you weird looks as they walked by, but you ignored them.

Once you finished equipping the item, Hatsume reached behind your head and pressed the power button. Instantly, the vision over your right eye became immensely clearer. You were still able to see things up close, and you looked about a mile down the road ahead of you, and found that you could now see people and cars with more clarity than you ever thought possible. You also heard more sounds, like the footsteps of students on the other side of the courtyard, and the conversations of the groups of students behind you. You could tell the direction that each sound was coming from, and your eardrums weren't blown out when Hatsume spoke up from right next to you. "So? What do you think of my baby??"

"It's amazing!" You couldn't find a way to downplay how awesome this was even if you tried.

Hatsume grinned. "I knew you'd love it!! Well, I have to get going! OH! And this is yours!" She handed the other bag to Shinso before skipping away.

"That was abrupt." You shook your head... That girl is a mad genius if there ever was one. You place the item back in your bag and look at Shinso to see him peering inside his own. "So what did you request?" you ask him.

He quickly closes the bag so that you can't see what's inside. "Nothing."

"Well, that's suspicious..."

"You're not gonna tell me?" you asked, narrowing your eyes.

"Nope, but I'll let you see it on Tuesday," he promised.

"That's right! On Tuesday I get my costume from Midnight and then we'll be training together." You eye him up suspiciously before nodding your head and shrugging your shoulders. "Fair enough."

"Hey, L/n. Can I talk to you for a second?" Shinso stops you in the hallway after the two of you leave the classroom at the end of the day. He looked a little anxious.

"Sure! What's up?"

He gently takes your arm in his hand and pulls you off to the side. Once you were clear of the other students, he rubbed the back of his neck nervously before speaking. "Remember when you asked me at the training camp if I'd want to go out with you sometime?" You blushed a bit as you recalled that conversation. It was still a bit hard to believe that you had actually found the courage to ask him out.

"Yeah... Why?"

He shuffled his feet a bit. "I, uh... I'd like to take you up on that offer."

You couldn't hide the surprise in your voice. "O-Okay! When did you want to do it?"

"How about next weekend?"

"Sure!" Then you thought of something and a smirk made its way onto your face... "It's a date." His face flushed pink as you repeated what he'd said to you a few days before.

He cleared his throat and nodded his head. "It's a date," he confirmed, giving you a warm smile.
