-Y/n POV-Dangling from the ropes that hung between the columns of the next obstacle, you do your best not to look down... You were literally hanging above an abyss. "What if one of us falls? This isn't a fucking video game where you can just respawn somewhere! What were they THINKING?!"
You were crawling with all fours hanging onto the rope, so your body was facing the sky. Your acrophobia slowed you down until you were merely inching along. You watched as a bunch of students used their quirks to leap over you. Then, you see a violet-haired boy fly past you overhead. "SHINSO?!"
"What the actual fuck?!" You were so confused. How was he flying across??
"Hmm... Either someone helped him out of the good of their heart... Or, most likely, he brainwashed someone into helping him."
"Dammit!" You quickly continued to crawl from rope to rope until you eventually reached the other side of the canyon. Pulling yourself up onto the edge of the cliff, you took off and raced after the many students who had gotten ahead of you.
"Shit, shit, shit!"
You ran until you came to a large field with a sign that read 'DANGER! MINES!'
"Fan-fucking-tastic!" As a spectator, you imagined that this would be great entertainment. "Hell, if I were watching, I'd be all over this..." But of course, being in the actual event was another thing, entirely.
You watched as the students ahead of you were blown into the air one by one. The explosions weren't lethal, but they were enough to freak you out. The students who weren't getting blown sky-high were treading slowly and carefully to avoid stepping on the landmines. You looked at the ground – you could just barely see where each individual mine was placed beneath the dirt.
"All right, I got this..." You had played soccer during your time in America, and during that time, you discovered that you excelled at fast feet drills. "Just imagine this as one REALLY BIG drill."
You let out a quick breath before taking the first step. After two seconds, you've developed a rhythm, figuring out the patterns and placements of each mine. You keep your eyes glued to the ground, occasionally glancing up to make sure that you don't run into anyone else. Each student you passed by watched you with huge eyes – no one else in the entire race was side-stepping as fast as you were.
"Whoa! Look at her go!"
"Look at how fast she's stepping between the mines! Is that her quirk or something?"
"Do you think she can see where the mines are? Or does she just have quick reflexes?"
You smirk at the others' comments... They were clearly impressed. Before you knew it, you'd reached the end of the minefield. You take a look back to find that you'd passed a majority of the students who were initially ahead of you. You even saw Shinso amongst those who were still treading through the field. You smiled to yourself before taking off in the direction of the finish line. Your speed helped you pass a couple of more people as you progressed.
You ran through a large tunnel, the lights nearly blinding you as you re-entered the stadium. The crowd cheered as you emerged, and you wiped the sweat off of your forehead. "Why does it have to be so HOT out?!" If only you could remove your uniform jacket like you did for training... But even Midnight would probably speak out against that.
After another couple of minutes, the rest of the students had made it back onto the field. The race came to a close and Midnight took the stage once more. "The first game for the first years is finally over, and what a game it was! Now let's take a quick look at the standings, shall we?"
You recognized the 1st place winner as the green-haired boy with the freckles. "Him again? So his name's Midorya..." And you couldn't suppress the laugh that escaped you when you saw Bakugo's photo next to his result. "3rd place, huh? He must be pissed..."
You read through the scoreboards until you found your name. "21st place? Not too bad." You saw that Shinso had gotten 27th. Of course, Chikuchi was nowhere to be seen on the scoreboard... In fact, you and Shinso were the only ones from all of general studies who'd made it to the second challenge. Chikuchi found you after the results were posted and wished you luck before heading to the stands to watch the second game with the rest of class 1C.
"Time for the next challenge..."
To those of you who know your shit, NO we did not replace Jiro in the results of the race... The lineup is just slightly different, that's all. Anyway – the next chapter will be the next game in the festival! Also, I'm sorry this chapter is so incredibly short! I'll upload the next one later today!
