-Y/n POV-

You sat in the back of an ambulance with a blanket wrapped around your shoulders as you stared at the ground beneath your feet. Red lights were flashing all around you as more and more cops appeared on the scene. When you'd woken up, you had found yourself lying face-down in the dirt... A passerby had found you and shaken you awake. Once you got up, you raced to the spot where you were supposed to meet back up with Hitoshi and found that he wasn't there. Dabi's words rattled in your brain as you frantically searched for your friend; 'We need the boy alive, and you'll just get in the way.' You called the police as soon as you came up empty-handed from your search.

You'd already answered questions from at least three different officers before they finally left you alone and began questioning the other people at the festival. Looking down at yourself, you saw that your new dress had been ruined. After being left lying in the dirt, the fabric had brown and green stains on it from the mud and grass. You also had bits of dirt in your hair and on your face... You knew that you looked like a mess, but you didn't care. As you sat there lost in your own thoughts, you overheard a couple of officers speaking to each other nearby. "Didn't the girl say that this 'Dabi' guy mentioned someone named Shigaraki?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"You never heard?"

"Heard what?"

"Shigaraki is the leader of the League of Villains!"

You felt your heart drop. "The League of Villains? What do they want with Hitoshi?"

You thought about his parents... "They must have gotten a call by now... I can't even imagine how terrified they must be." As you thought of them, you remembered something that his mother had told you when you first met: 'Anyone could go after him and his quirk, which puts him at risk.'

"They MUST want him for his quirk... Maybe they saw him at the Sports Festival and figured he would make a good villain." You weren't concerned about the idea of him being turned into one; He's just as determined as you are to become a hero... You were only worried about what they would do to him after he refuses to join them.

-------------------------------

After a few more minutes, another vehicle pulled up, but it wasn't a police car or an ambulance. The passenger door flew open and out stepped Aizawa. Seeing him, you dropped the blanket and ran up to him, instantly engulfing him in a hug, which he reciprocated. You felt tears welling up in your eyes as you held him and you ducked your head into his shoulder and cried into his scarf. Even though he wasn't the 'huggy' type, he knew what to do in order to comfort someone in distress... It came with the whole 'hero' gig, after all.

"It's okay, Y/n... We'll find him, I promise," he whispered as he held onto you. You stood like this for a while until a thought occurred to you. You lifted your head from his scarf and wiped the remaining tears from your eyes with the back of your hand. Then you gave him a look of determination.

"Let me go with you."

He looked at you for a moment before closing his eyes and shaking his head. "I can't, Y/n."

"Wh... Why not?!"

"You don't have a provisional hero license. It's illegal for you to engage in combat with any villains unless it's purely for self-defense."

"Then I won't engage! I'll help you from the sidelines!"

He lets out a sigh. "I know how good of a fighter you are, Y/n... And I know that if you're anywhere on the scene, the temptation to step in and fight would be too great for you. You could end up getting yourself injured or worse... And your father would never forgive me if anything happened to you."

"B-But- "

"I said no. That's my final answer," he said sternly. You released him and he went to the nearest police officer and asked for any and all updates on the case. You clenched your fist... If he wasn't going to let you help, then no one was. Your friend was missing and nobody was going to let you do anything about it.

At that moment, you felt a light tug on the end of your dress. You look down to find a small child – he must have been the same age as Eri. He whispered up to you, "I found something." You look back up at Aizawa as he speaks to the officer and silently nod to the child, allowing him to show you the way. You follow him past some stands from the festival until he takes you down an alley between two of them. Looking around, you find yourself in a dark, open space behind the booths that was only illuminated by the light of the moon.

The child leads you over to a spot and points to the ground... You crouch down and find a pile of gray sludge. "Ew... What the hell is this?" Hesitantly, you reach out and touch it... It's cold and slimy, as you expected. You bring it closer to your face to sniff it, but were surprised to discover that it didn't have any scent.

As you move to rest your knees on the ground, you see the moonlight softly reflect off of something out of the corner of your eye. You look over and see a key... It was resting atop the leaves, so it must have been dropped there recently. You carefully pick it up and examine it... With the small amount of light that you had, you could only make out that it was an industrial key of some sort. You drop the key into the pocket of your dress before looking back to the child. "Thank you very much for showing this to me." He nods his head before turning and running off.

"I WILL find you, Hitoshi... I swear it."
