57 - I've Got Your Back

-Shinso POV-

You watch as L/n waves goodbye to Midoriya, the blonde guy and the little girl. You saw how gentle she got when she interacted with the small child, and it made you smile to yourself. You loved how she was the perfect balance of tough and soft... She was a fighter, but she was also one of the sweetest people that you knew... It was no wonder how you came to like her.

As she starts making her way back over to the 1C setup area, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turn around to find one of the other girls from your class, who's name escaped you. She was holding a small wooden beam that was thinner than the width of your fist and she held it up to you. "Hey, Shinso! Do you think you could break this in half for me? I need smaller pieces for the part of the haunted house that I'm building."

"Why is she asking me? Agoyamato is clearly stronger than I am..."

"Uh, sure." Taking the beam from her, you grip it between your hands and bend it with all of the strength in your muscles until it snaps in half. You hand the pieces back to her and she takes them with wide eyes.

"Wow, Shinso! You're so strong!" She places the beams behind her back and leans forward a bit, revealing some cleavage from the top of her gym uniform.

"What the hell? Is she... flirting with me?"

You had no idea how to handle this situation, and you weren't interested in her, so you responded the only way you knew how. "Uhmm, thanks..." You quickly turn away from her and begin walking in the opposite direction, but she grasps onto your arm.

"Wait! I was wondering if you wanted to go out some time?"

"What the... What's going on??"

-Y/n POV-

As you head back to the rest of your class, you look up to see Shinso talking with another girl. She had her hands behind her back and was leaning forward while smiling up at him. "Is she hitting on him?" He turned to walk away, and you saw that he had an uncomfortable expression on his face. Before he could even take two steps, the girl grabs a hold of his arm and says something. "He's clearly not interested, leave him the fuck alone!" He tried to pull his arm away, but she held on tight. "That's it!"

You had made a promise to yourself at the Sports Festival that you would always be there for Shinso no matter what, and you'll be damned if you break that promise! Using your quirk, you made yourself invisible to the two of them and walked around until you were standing behind the girl. You released your quirk and noticed that she had a perfect ponytail on the back of her head. "Ohh, I want to pull on this girl's hair so badly..."

Deciding against it, you instead tap on her shoulder and when she turns her head to look at you, you give her the brightest smile you could muster and speak to her in a cheery voice. "Hello! Did you need something from Shinso?"

She gave you a dirty look. "What are you, his secretary?"

You felt a vein throb on your head but you kept up the cheerful act. "As a matter of fact, I am!" She gave you a confused look and you continued. "My duties include being his best friend, and..." You got right up in her face. "... taking out the trash!"

-Shinso POV-

Without any warning, L/n hoisted the girl over her shoulder. She was much smaller and lighter than her and as she was busy kicking and yelling, L/n found the nearest trash can and plopped her into it. She clapped her hands together as if to get the dirt off and turned away to walk toward you. "Whoa... I've never seen her act like that. That was scary, but... also pretty hot, not gonna lie."

You felt your cheeks flush and she walked up to you and lowered her voice into a more concerned tone. "You all right?"

You nod your head. "Yeah, thanks..." You look behind her to see Agoyamoto and Togeike standing not far from the trash can with the struggling girl. They both had their hands over their mouths and were clearly trying not to laugh out loud.

L/n scratched her head. "Sorry if I went a little bit overboard... You just looked really uncomfortable, so..."

"No, no, you're fine!" Then a smirk crawled its way onto your face and you leaned towards her a tiny bit. "But... are you sure you weren't just jealous?"

At first, she blushed and furrowed her eyebrows in annoyance, but then her expression changed into a smile. "What do I have to be jealous about?" She placed her hands behind her back and leaned forward to whisper in your ear. "I've already got a date with you." You felt your face get warm at her close proximity and her use of the word 'date', and she leaned back and smirked at your reaction. Then she gave you a soft smile and said, "I look forward to it, by the way! Even though I have no idea where we're going..."

You had to smile back at her. "I look forward to it, too... And don't worry, it'll be fun."
