-Shinso POV-

After a little while longer, you left the hospital together. It was silent between the two of you as you walked down the street. Eventually, you gave into the urge to say something.

"Thank you for having me come today, L/n. It was nice to be able to meet your mom."

She was looking at the ground as you walked, and she looked up at you when you spoke. "Thanks for agreeing to come in the first place. I wasn't sure if I should bring you, but I'm glad that I did." She gave you a smile, which you returned. You were happy to know that she trusted you enough to have you meet her mother.

"I'm sorry for bringing such a sad moment into your day," she said sheepishly.

"Don't worry... It wasn't all bad," you reassured her.

"Do you want to do any training today? I know that the Sports Festival is over and all, but it's still nice to get a good workout in," she suggested. Before you could respond, she exclaimed, "Oh yeah! I thought about this last night... You know what you should do?"

"... What?"

"You should ask your uncle if he can train you!" She had such a big smile on her face, like it was the best idea in the world.

"Train me?"

"Yeah! You've at least seen videos of him fighting, haven't you? He's really good at hand-to-hand combat!! The pros at the Sports Festival even said that if you had more combat experience, you totally would've won the match against Midoriya, and I agree! Since our quirks don't give us any real fighting abilities, it'd be great to get some more combat skills!"

"Wait, wait... 'Our quirks'?"

She put her hands behind her back and looked down at the ground. "I mean, yeah... It'd be really cool if I could learn, too..." She kicked a rock as you walked along the sidewalk. "I may be strong, but I'd never win against someone with actual fighting experience."

"Hmm..." You considered her suggestion. "She's right... This would be a great way for me to become a better fighter. It could bring me closer to my goal of being a hero."

"All right, I'll ask him today."

-------------------------------

Later that day, you texted your uncle and asked if he would personally train you. At first, he was unsure – being a full-time teacher as well as a pro hero, he wasn't sure if he'd have the time – but he agreed to train you on the weekends. He also informed you that the following week would be the internship week for the hero course students, so he would train you during that time as well.

And he was a merciless teacher... He would teach you different fighting techniques, and if you failed one, he would have you do fifty sit-ups and fifty push-ups. At first, you didn't think you could take it, but then you remembered what L/n had told you the first time the two of you trained together: 'You'll never get stronger if you stop as soon as you feel tired!'

With that mantra in mind, you pushed on. Day by day, you would feel less and less tired after each session. L/n begged you to teach her your uncle's fighting styles until you eventually agreed. At first, she had asked if she could train with you and Uncle Shota. Your uncle was fine with the idea, but for some reason, you didn't like the thought of L/n training in her sports bra in front of him.

During the week of the internships, you would go to your uncle's house to train every day after school until it was time for him to go to work as a pro hero. Over the weekend, you would train with him in the mornings, and then train with L/n later on in the day to teach her what you've learned. She was a very fast learner, and it only took her until the end of the weekend to grasp everything that you had learned throughout the whole week.
