-Shinso POV-

Here you are... Sitting in a window seat at your favorite ramen shoppe... across from a girl... waiting for your orders of noodles to come out. She had ordered a chicken paitan with nori and bean sprouts and a green milk tea. You smiled a bit at how particular she was with her order. She had also ordered a small cup of ice for some reason, and you have yet to figure out why. You ordered a spicy chicken paitan. You didn't normally eat spicy food, but you were nervous, so this was an exception.

"So... Did Aizawa tell you anything?"

This question caught you completely off guard... She'd hardly said a word since you got there and now she was practically interrogating you. "Huh?"

"About me... Did Aizawa tell you anything about me? Or my quirk?"

"Right down to business, I see..."

"Uhm... Well, he told me that you've gone through some stuff, but he didn't say what, exactly."

She nodded her head at your answer... Then it was back to silence. A full minute passed before she spoke again. "How did you know that I'm half-American?"

"Huh, interesting question..."

"Well, my uncle knows your dad, as I'm sure you already know. And I knew of your dad through my uncle. So, when Uncle Shota told me that you were the daughter of his American friend, that explained it."

"Hm, all right." She seemed to accept that answer fairly well. Your noodles arrived at your table then, and you both kindly thanked the waiter. But neither of you touched your food yet; You figured that she was waiting for her noodles to cool off, just like you were.

"Do you have any questions for me?" she asked.

"Actually, I do..."

"Can you tell me more about your quirk? Who did you get it from?"

"Ah... Well, I don't know if you knew this, but... My Dad is actually quirkless. He's a painter, and one of the nonphysical traits that I inherited from him is his ability to recall details. It's what makes him such a good painter and what enables me to use my quirk to its fullest. Remembering sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures helps me be able to create more accurate illusions."

You were fascinated to learn this information, but you could tell that she had gone off on a tangent; You did the same thing whenever you were trying to avoid talking about something.

"What about your mom?"

She closed her mouth and avoided eye contact before she turned her head to look out the window. For a moment, you thought that she wasn't going to answer. Just as you were about to apologize for bringing it up, she responded.

"I don't know that much about her, to be honest. She... She doesn't live with us. My parents aren't divorced or anything, but she's just... not at home." She seemed sad all of a sudden. You weren't completely sure what she meant by her answer, but you decided not to press the matter any further. If she ever feels up to it, then you'll find out about it eventually. For now, you just nod your head.

"What about you? Who do you get yours from?" She sets the focus on you this time. You felt a little bit more comfortable talking about quirks without that Togeike girl there.

"I get mine from my mom. Hers works a little differently, though." You figured you'd just keep it at that. Maybe one day you'll tell her more about you and your mom's quirks... Just not today.

"How about your dad?"

"My dad's quirk is called 'No Sleep.' Basically, he never feels tired or needs to rest. He uses the extra time to study neurology, but lately he's been taking up too many night shifts. I don't really get to see him that much anymore..." You look up from where you were staring at her glass of tea, and realize that you've been rambling. "Sorry, I don't mean to bore you."
