-Y/n POV-The three of you sit down in your usual spot. That blonde prick's words echoed in your mind the whole way. You had thanked Chikuchi for stepping in when she did, but Shinso was unusually quiet after the whole altercation. You wanted to break the ice, and there was a question that's been bugging you ever since you left classroom 1A, so you decided to ask.
"So, uh... Shinso?" He looked in your direction and you continued. "What did he mean by that?"
"... What did he mean by what?"
"The whole 'keeping the dog on his leash' thing... What did he mean by that?"
He let out a deep sigh and thought for a few moments before answering. "Bakugo's mother and my mother are best friends..."
"Ahh, so his name's Bakugo."
"... They've been trying to get us to be friends since we were small children, but it's never worked out. We've known each other for a long time, and we've hated each other for just as long. He also knows about my quirk. In fact, he was one of the kids who..." He stopped talking, then. You were hoping that he would continue with what he was saying, but unfortunately, you were not so lucky. "... Never mind. The point is, we hate each other."
He ended his explanation there before he could spill anything else. You and Chikuchi shared a sympathetic glance before beginning to eat your food in silence. After a few minutes, you decided to change the subject to something else.
"So... What you said about still having a chance at getting into the hero course... Was that true?" You were dying to know.
"Of course it's true," he said simply.
"... So what are we gonna do about it?" you finally asked.
"About what?" Chikuchi looked confused.
"The Sports Festival! We should train for it! Just because we're not in the hero course, doesn't mean we can't train! And I don't know about you guys, but I wanna do better than a lot of the other people here."
The girl shrugged her shoulders. "Eh, not interested."
You looked to Chikuchi, surprised. "What – seriously? You don't want to give it your best shot?"
"I've kinda been dreading the Sports Festival, to be honest... It's not like I have an awesome quirk that I can show off." She just shrugged. She didn't seem at all sad about the idea of losing.
You looked to your other friend. "How about you, Shinso? Wanna train with me?"
"... For real?" He seemed surprised that you would even offer something like that.
"Yeah! What do you say?" The truth is, you didn't want to train alone. You looked at him with sparkly eyes.
"... All right."
"YES!" You raised your fist in the air. You had a training buddy! You were so excited that you whipped out your phone. "I'm gonna text my dad real quick and let him know that I'll be coming home late."
"Wait, we're going to train today?" He was taken aback.
"Well, yeah... We have to start right away if we want to be ready for the festival!"

-Shinso POV-
You and L/n head to the P.E. Grounds. You both figured that the gym would be filled with hero course students, so you decided to train outside. You both had changed into your gym uniforms and sneakers, either of which you hardly ever used, and there was no one else on the grounds, which gave you plenty of privacy for training.
