We sat together on my parents old weathered love seat. It was Christmas eve, my favorite day of the year. As I child, I'd always had fantasies about what a perfect Christmas Eve would be like. And right now that dream was coming true. The smell of caramel filled the room and I laughed playfully as I threw a marshmallow at his nose. Our mugs were already overflowing with hot chocolate and thick layer of marshmallows, and we still had half the bag left, and had no idea what to do with the rest so just settled for throwing them at each other. "Who's gonna clean this up afterwards?" He reminded, while I was still laughing as a marshmallow hit me in the face. "We'll just let the dogs pick them up,"
"That's silly. Dogs don't eat marshmallows." He scoffed. I threw another one at his nose and replied "Sure they do! Dogs want to have a little taste of the holidays too." I squealed suddenly as something cold and wet touched my foot. I looked down to see that one of the dogs had already eaten most of our marshmallows and was sniffing around to see if we had any more. "Seeeee? They're eating them! What did I tell you?" I tease and suddenly frown and look out the window. "Ugh."
"What's wrong babe?" He asks with concern and pulls me closer to him, giving me more of his blanket. "Today's so perfect, it's like I've always imagined, blankets, hot chocolate, a fireplace, and spending the whole day alone with you. But there's one huge thing that's missing and I guess it's not a big deal I just thought it'd make everything perfect," I say while watching the fire. "But that's okay. We have everything else and you're here, which is the best part. Any situation is wonderful as long as we're together." I added, smiling widely again. He kissed my forehead and twirled a strand of my hair on his finger. "You wanted it to snow huh..."
"Yeah." I mutter in disappointment as I refresh the weather report for the seventh time. "Clear skies, no chance for snow." I confirm. "No snowball fights for us. Although throwing marshmallows is just as fun." I grin as I dump a handful of marshmallows down the back of his shirt. "They're not very cold though..."
"When I think about it, I wish it was snowing too. You'd look beautiful with snowflakes in your hair and your cheeks all flushed."
I smiled in delight "Awwwww..."
Then he smirked deviously and grabbed the bowl of marshmallows "Although marshmallows are close enough!" and dumped the rest of the marshmallows on top of my head. I squeaked in surprise and little white mini marshmallows poured down all over me and the dogs jumped up on us, eagerly gobbling them up. "Oh my gosh, I'm so getting you back for that!" I squealed and jumped up and ran into the kitchen. Returning with a bag behind my back I leaned over and looked him in the eyes with a dramatically flirty expression and crooned "You know, you're so sweet, you're almost a pile of candy,"
Dumping a bowl of hershey kisses on him I immitated
