"Brothers"
Caitlin’s POV
I pulled out my phone and searched for Alex’s number. They said Cam wasn’t too drunk, so he would just have to do a good amount of community hours to let him off the hook.
I found Alex’s number and called him.
“Hello?” He answered, probably just in time before it went to voicemail.
“Hey are you still at the party?”
“No, I’m heading home now. Why?” He asked.
“Well Cam drove me home and-“
I stopped.
It felt like a flame roared through my body and I was getting warm and angry.
Guess who just walked in with three cops and a set of handcuffs on?
Yup! You guessed it! My drunk ass boyfriend, probably just as drunk as me, is here too.
“We have a 45 here. Drunk, from 5th street, and aggressive.” The cop said to the man behind the front desk, also in uniform.
Austin’s eyes are focused on the cop and not me. I stood in the ‘waiting room’ as he was held by that one cop and the other two walked away.
“What are you gonna do with him?” The man behind the desk asked.
“Let him off with a warning. Didn’t do nothin’ too bad.” The one that was holding him said.
“Get someone to drive you home kid.” The cop took off Austin’s handcuffs and he rubbed his wrists. “You will have to fill this out before you go anywhere.” The cop handed him a clipboard with paperwork on it.
I had to fill out the same thing, just stupid questions about what happened, and why we were at the station.
“Go over there and bring it back when you’re done.”
Austin nodded and looked down at the paper work, while walking over to me. He still hasn’t noticed?
“Hey.” I sighed.
His eyes shot up.
A wave of relief, yet guilt swept over his face.
“Caitlin.” He breathed out and hugged me. “Thank you for listening and going with Cam.” He said normally still holding me, but then whispered, “And what the hell did that bastard do to get you here?”
I pulled away from our hug.
“He was driving drunk, and got caught.” I shrugged. “I was just his drunk passenger that didn’t have anything to do with it.”
We sat down next to each other as he filled out the forms. I texted Alex to come pick me up, I’ll just bring Austin with me.
We sat there for ten minutes as Austin was asked some more questions, then he came back and started writing again.
“So why are you here?” I asked quietly, frankly because of how tired and sick I feel.
“I may have started a fist fight in the street. But trust me I didn’t start it, according to the cops I did.”
“Tell me what happened.” I placed my hand on top of his hand that was holding the clipboard.
“Not now.”
