Chapter 8: A friend at school

It's been nearly 5 days since I last saw the boys, I was starting to miss them all like crazy. I had been texting Jungkook throughout this last week and he says that they've all just been super busy. They are set to debut sometime next year, so things are going to get a lot more serious from now on. Which probably means that I'll see less of them, which I suppose will be good for their focus. However, I was still so lonely without them, I still hadn't managed to make friends at school and my host family was only getting more impatient with me.

Today was a Friday, so I was looking forward to maybe seeing the boys on the weekend again, but I wasn't going to keep my hopes up if they were all too busy.

I got ready for school like normal and made my way down the road, hopefully to catch Jungkook like I sometimes do, if I'm lucky. Although today he was no-where to be seen so I carried on, walking passed the BIGHIT building a little reluctantly.

When I finally got to the gates, I was shocked, just outside was a smartly dressed Jungkook looking around for someone. When his eyes locked with mine, they instantly brightened, and his face warped from panic to relief.

"Hey Y/N" he ran over to me turning around again to walk with me back where he came from.

"What are you doing here? That uniform... Is this your one day of school for the month or something?"

"Yep" he nodded with a big grin "You got me for a whole day" I broke out into a big grin that matched his own.

While we were walking through the school gates, I noticed people staring a bit at us both. It might have been because they thought Jungkook was a new student or maybe they know he's training to be an idol. They may even be staring because they all can't believe I actually have a friend.

I felt so proud walking the halls with Jungkook, like I finally had some confidence. I also felt very possessive, I wanted to tell everyone 'yes! This is MY friend! Go get your own' but of course I never would.

I wasn't expecting Jungkook to be in the same class as me so when I found out we were, I couldn't help my excitement. I practically begged the teacher to let him sit with me, maybe it was because she could see the hopeful smile on Jungkook's face or maybe that she always felt bad for me, but she let us sit together.

I was beaming, rainbows coming out of my eyes as I thanked the teacher and dragged Jungkook to my desk. I had always sat on my own with an empty seat next to mine, our class was particularly small so we had a few spaces open where he could have sat.

Today was the best day of school yet, Jungkook and I talked in all our classes, not enough to get us in trouble, but enough to get some warning looks. He made class a lot more fun than I thought it could be, even back in the UK, I never laughed this much in class. Neither Jungkook nor I were that smart, so we both needed to pay attention at some point. I learnt that he was particularly bad at English, I burst out laughing when he told me he only got 4/100 on one of his tests. I'd made a promise to teach him English, if he promised to sit with me at lunch. Of course, we both kind of already knew we'd sit together, but this was just a way to seal the deal.

Lunch was a blast, Jungkook was one of those people who you could feel comfortable eating in front of. Before my surgeries I always used to cover my mouth when eating, so that whoever was eating around me wouldn't be uncomfortable. It became a habit and I still did it till this day, but with Jungkook, it was the first time I forgot to do it. I was laughing and smiling too much that I barely even noticed, though when I finally realized, I couldn't help but gaze at him, thankful.
