Chapter 17: Illness

I woke up with doctors all around me doing all sorts of tests, not one of the boys in sight. I had no idea what was wrong with me or if I would be alright, I just hoped I'd be out of here soon.

"Hello Miss Y/N" a female doctor greeted me after she saw I had opened my eyes.

"What's going on?" I asked but my throat was all swollen from throwing up.

"You're a bit unwell Miss, we're going to keep you here for a couple weeks until you get better, you're in good hands"

"What's wrong with me?"

"You've got a case of tuberculosis Miss, but don't worry, we found it just in time, with the right medication you'll get through it, rest now Miss." She didn't have to say anything more before I fell back into a deep sleep, while the wires connected to my body were pumping me full of essential fluids and medicine.

Outside in the hospitals reception the boys were all sat waiting for some news, Bang P-nim and Manager Sejin were there too. It had been a few hours since they had taken me away, finally one of the doctors approached them with some news.

"Hello, are you Miss Y/N's guardian?"

"I am" Bang spoke up bowing to the doctor and the boys followed. "How is she?"

"Let's sit down, Miss Y/N seems to be showing symptoms of Tuberculosis, this is a bacteria that often passed through the lungs or any other part of the body. It's often spread through saliva exchange or even something simple like coughing, sneezing. This means that she will need to be in our care for a few weeks or more until she gets better to stop the spread of infection. Now, Tuberculosis is curable, and we have already started treating the patient with the proper medications to help her immune system fight the bacteria. However, we do not recommend coming to see Miss Y/N for a week or so, for one it is very contagious and two, it's not the most pleasant of diseases. Miss Y/N will probably lose a lot of weight as her immune system is fighting for her, as well her nausea will still be strong for the next few days. She's lucky that she was brought here when she was, any longer and the bacteria could have become fatal."

"How do you think she got ill?" Bang asked after the boys had a loss of words.

"well it's unlikely that she caught it from someone, but not impossible, someone could have coughed near her on a train or in the street. Although there is such a thing called latent TB, which basically means the patient may have caught TB years ago, but it stayed dormant in her body until it was triggered by something recently. It may be that a simple cold could have triggered the TB to wake up."

"Those girls" All the men looked over to Jungkook with confusion "a girl from school spat on her the other day, she could have passed something over"

"Yes, that probably was it, but don't worry, her immune system is strong, and we'll do everything in our power to fight off the bacteria."

With a few sullen thankyous the group left the building and back to their dorms, orders from Bang PD as he stayed to sign a few papers.

For days I was immobile, my skin burned, and my head was on fire, I was unconscious for most of the first few days at the hospital. If I wasn't sleeping, then I was throwing up into the bin next to my bedside. Any food the hospital gave me came out again after 10 minutes, but even so, I didn't feel hungry. Every second I was awake, my head burned with an ache I can't describe, it was like someone had hit my head with a hammer over a hundred times.
