Chapter 24 Separation

Cynthia’s POV

It’s been 2 months since Silver and I became official and until now, we remain secret. Hindi naman siya nagrereklamo because she understands our situation pero ngayon kinakabahan ako para sa aming dalawa. Hindi ko maipaliwanag yung kaba ko ngayon. My mom’s rushing us to go home. Nasa airport na kami ngayon sa Pinas, galing kaming Thailand. Silver had an convention there for 2 days and sumunod ako to surprise her for our 2nd monthsary. I filed a 3 days leave but mom’s rushing us kaya 2 days lang kami nakapaglibot sa Thailand. Supposedly bukas pa yung flight namin pauwi but mom really wanted us to go home.

Tinatanong ko naman kung ano nangyari pero ayaw nya sabihin. Even Hisham didn’t wanted to talk about it through the phone.

“Baby, you think it will be fine?” I asked Silver worriedly.

She was quiet the whole time we are in the Plane. Her face was blank and I don’t know what’s going on insider her mind.

She looked at me and gave me a small smile. “of course it will! Don’t think too much. Just relax” she held my hand and gently pinched it while waiting for our baggage.

I know her smile is a force one and she just wanted me to cheer up. Even if I knew it’s not genuine, It still worked on me and I feel at ease. That’s Silver. She can always make me calm even if me, myself and I are on chaos.

After getting everything. We went out and nandon na agad sa labas nakaabang si Franky para sunduin kami.

“Nako madam! Long time no see” maarteng bati niya sa akin. “Nakaiscore kaba ngayong buwan?” sabay sulyap kay Silver na tahimik lang sa tabi ko at nagtatakang nakatutok ang mata kay Franky. Iniisip siguro kung anong kababalaghan ang ibig sabihin ni bakla.

Binatukan ko sya saka inirapan. “Sira! Tara na nga”

Kung nagtataka kayo kung bat ganyan bungad sa akin ni Franky, hays sa loob ba naman kasi ng 2 months na pagiging official, di man lang ako naka homerun. Puro momol kami at taas lang inaabot ko! But, it’s fine. Hindi ko siya pipilitin kung hindi pa siya handa. Hindi naman nasusukat don ang pagmamahalan ng isa’t isa. Love without sex is fine. Sex is just a bonus, afterall!

“Alam ko na sagot madam! Di mo na need sabihin. Weak!” he teased when he got on the driver’s side.

“Shut up! Just drive” sabi ko nalang.

“You can sleep, baby. The ride is a bit long” Silver softly said and put my head on her shoulder. I can see Franky’s playful smirk through the rearview.

I sighed. Napagod ako sa byahe pero I need to ask this. “Franky, anong meron at pinapauwi ako agad ni mama?”

Biglang nagbago ang mood niya at naramdaman ko ang mabigat na awra sa loob ng sasakyan.

“Hintayin mo nalang na makauwi tayo, Cynthia” he said in a serious tone kaya lalo akong nag alala.

“Just sleep, baby. Everything’s going to be fine” para akong hinehele sa sobrang soft ng pagkakasabi ni Silver kaya di ko namalayan na bumigat na pala ang talukap ng mata ko at nakatulog sa balikat niya.

“Oh shut up! I’m not gonna chicken out, Franky. I love Cynthia and I’m not going to let her fight in a war alone” I heard Silver said when I woke up but I still didn’t open my eyes yet to hear what’s happening. I know it’s about the reason why mom was rushing me to go home.

“Her mom will surely kill you!” Franky exaggeratedly said.

I know eavesdropping is bad but who cares? Hindi naman ako santo para hindi magkasala. Even saints had commited a sin once! Ano pa kaya ako na normal lang na tao.

Silver heaved a sigh. “Whatever you say, Franky. I will accompany her inside. Gonna wake her up na”

Maya maya pa ay natahimik na silang dalawa kaya pinanindigan ko na ang pagtutulog tulugan. I felt someone cupped my face and I knew it was Silver. She was softly carressing my face like I was her most expensive diamond jewelry. Her touches were so delicate and soft to the point that I wished this moment lasts for thee rest of my life. Silver being this gentle to me is just so heart warming. I feel like I’ll lose my life if I lose her.

Seconds later, “baby, wake up. We’re here” I heard her say in a very soft voice then felt her lips on my right cheek then after that she continued her kisses up to my forehead. “Wake up, my love”

As much I wanted to pretend sleeping and make this last forever, I slowly opened my eyes and when our eyes met, I swear my heart rate increased like it’s gonna jump out of ribcage as I saw how her eyes lights up for me.

“Nandito na tayo?” I asked even if it’s already obvious.

She just nodded and smiled a bit.
Pagbaba namin ay tinulungan kami ni Franky sa mga bagahe kasama yung dalawang katulong namin dito sa bahay. Yeah, we have maids but we usually do our things on our own. Ayaw ni mama na lumaki kaming tamad at asa lang sa maid.

Pagpasok na pagpasok namin sa bahay ay bumungad sa amin ang matalim na mata ni mama. She immediately stood up from sitting on the sofa and came near us. I was so shocked when she hardly slapped Silver on the face.

“Ma!” I shouted.

“T-tita?” Silver uttered while holding her reddened face.

Hisham was running towards us with all his sweaty existence. He came from our gym while Miyu is coming from the kitchen with a shocked face too. Franky was stoic too on the side while the maids remain silent and did their own thing. I know mamaya magchichikahan din ang mga yan sa room nila.

“You disgusting shit!” nandidiring dinuro ni mama si Silver habang si Silver ay tulala lang habang hawak pa din ang pisngi na nasampal ni mama.

Susugudin na ulit ni mama si Silver pero hinarang ko ang katawan ko at si Miyu at Hisham naman ay pinigilan si mama na makalapit.

“Ano bang problema ma?! Bat mo sinampal si Nahla!” I asked and I can’t stopped myself from raising my voice. I’m so sorry, ma. I just hate seeing Silver getting hurt.

“Look at those, Cynthia!” mama pointed the center table which made our gazes look on that side.

Ngayon ko lang napansin ang mga nagkalat na pictures doon. I walked near and grab one of those. My hands were trembling when I saw the pictures. It was Silver and I on some of our intimate gestures. There some when we went to the motel, some in Baguio, mall, Thailand and everywhere!

“KITA MO NA?!” sigaw ulit ni mama.

“Mom, calm down” pagpapakalma ni Hisham kay mama.

“I can’t believe na gagaya ka din pala sa ate mo! Sinasabi ko na nga ba’t hindi magandang impluwensya sa inyo si Alrisa!” pagalit nyang sabi saka bumaling kay Silver. “At ikaw! Wala kang utang na loob! Pinatira ka namin dito, kinupkop na parang anak at binigyan ng trabaho para may pangtustos ka sa sarili at pag aaral mo tapos ganto ang igaganti mo?! Hindi pa ba sapat ang mga binibigay namin sayo?!”

“Mama, that’s enough please” si Miyu na ngayon ay umiiyak na.

“Mama mahal ko si Nahla! I can do something about these pictures. If you are thinking about my career, just leave it to me” I honestly said in frustration.

“No! I want you to stop seeing this dyke! From now on, wala kanang trabaho, Nahla. Lumayo ka sa anak ko! Magsimula kana magbalot balot ng mga gamit mo!” mom said while looking so disgusted as she stare at Silver who is now so quiet.

“But m—“ naputol ang sasabihin ko nang magsalita si Silver.

“I’ll do everything po. Wag niyo lang po ilayo sa akin si Cynthia. Mahal na mahal ko po siya. I love her too much that I can’t fathom the idea of leaving her” she begged.

“Naririnig mo ba ang sarili mo hija?! You are just a student! Babae pa! Kung wala nga tong anak ko baka sa kangkungan ang bagsak mo! You don’t even have a family to support your financial problems so pano mo magagawa ang lahat para sa anak ko?! Baka nga ginagamit mo lang ang anak ko para makaangat sa buhay eh!”

“Mama! Ano ba! Wag kang magsalita ng ganyan kay Si—Nahla” saway ko.

“I will study and work hard madam! To give your daughter a comfortable life and the life she deserves. I can assure you that she will not live a poor life” sabi pa ulit ni Silver na parang nakikipagnegotiate na kay mama.

“Ha wag kang puro salita bata! Ang anak ko successful na bago ka pa dumating sa buhay niya! Eh ikaw? Anong maipagmamalaki mo? Ang taas ng pangarap mo para abutin ang anak ko. Nakakahiya ka! Stay away from my daughter, kid! You’ll just ruin my daughter’s career! You are no good for my daughter” mayabang na sabi ni mama habang mapangmaliit na tinignan mula ulo hanggang paa si Silver.
