SILVER’S POV

To love is to care for someone dear to you. But there are different kind of love to different persons too. The love for friends, family and siblings are way different from falling in love to someone or to that someone that you
are bound to grow old with.

“Are you sure you are going there today?” I asked Akiko who is sitting on the shotgun seat while I gave her a quick glance and then back to the road.

I am currently driving her to the site where she is going to meet her professor who invited her to join a project here in Cebu. This project actually became her excuse to escape her therapy sessions in Manila.

“I should be the one asking you that. Your face is swollen. Are you sure you are going to school at that state?” she retorted.

My dad came here in Cebu just to give me a hard slap on my pretty face.

Akie, make it fast. I might get late” I said hurrying while standing at the front door of my house when our gate opened and a car entered.

I frowned at the sight of it and wondered who might be this intruder but when I saw other cars parked outside my house because my garage have nothing left more to make them fit, I realized who it may be.

And confirmed it when the driver opened the backseat door to make my father go out of the car.

I didn’t have the time to react or ask him what he was doing here because as soon as he came close to me, he gave me a hard slap on my face.

“You like it?” he asked in anger.

“You really love being humiliated huh! How dare you to just go somewhere without asking me a permission? And now, I’ll see this shitty dyke here?” he added as he pointed Cynthia who was standing at my back and looked so shock at what my father did. Beside her was Akiko who walked close to me when I turned my gaze on them.

If Cynthia really wants to be with me, she has nothing to be surprised of. My father is often violent and harsh on his words. That’s why I runaway back then.

“Uncle, it’s not Silver’s fault. Don’t get mad at her. It’s my fault she was rushing that time and didn’t have the time to ask for permission. And Cynthia being here is not on her plan too” Akiko explained.

“Yeah, you are always dragging her into a mess! You are the one who is responsible for her shitty behaviors. You lunatic kiddo!”

“Dad, shut up! you are the reason why I keep leaving. I can’t be with you and breathe the same air with you! You and your own shitty attitude. So please, just leave me alone” I yelled at him back.

“What a disrespectful brat! Your little horns are growing too much” he aimed to slap me again so I closed my eyes tightly and wait for his palm to land on the other side of my cheek.

But, it didn’t happened.

I didn’t feel a pain on my cheek. I didn’t feel his rough palm on my face.

But I heard it landed somewhere.

I opened my eyes and saw Cynthia’s back in front of me.

Her face was tilted on the other side. She covered and protected me from my father’s  violent wrath.

She slowly looked up and bravely faced my father.

“With all due respect sir, respect begets respect and with your attitude I don’t understand why you are demanding for some when you can’t even respect others, especially your daughter” she said full of confidence. “Hurt her again and I will show you the real meaning of disrespecting someone” she added firmly and saw her fist form into ball.
