Merry Go Round (A Short Story)

Once upon a time ...
I was wondering around the merry go round
And i got lost
I tried looking everywhere
And anywhere
To find my way back home..
But it was all just the same direction...
i cried and cried...
Until...
"Hey"
A warm touch landed on my shoulders.
I look behind..
and saw an unfamiliar face..
"Are you lost?" she asked
"Who are you?" I asked
"Just someone who might help you.." then she wipes my tears.
"If you let me help you.. i cant stand seeing someone here on this paradise crying.."
"Paradise?"
She smiled and sits beside me.
"This is just a cheap carnival to a normal person" then looks at me "But to us, it is a paradise of happiness.." she looks at the sunset "Like what they say, what you missed on swings will be found on Merry Go Round. Come with--"
"Chaewon!"
"Mama!"
Mom carried me while looking at the girl, who's waving goodbye at me, while crying..

I returned to Carnival again and didn't saw her.. there's no glimpse of her, after all these years.. i am seeking for the kind of warmth that she once make me feel..

A lot of things happened..
I once dreamt about her
Writing a song til her final breath..
I suddenly woke up
In a place where no one seems to know
"Hey"
A familiar voice appeared
I look behind
"Are you lost?"
My eyes suddenly widened as i hugged her and cried.
"I missed you. I keep on dreaming about you.."
"I'm Hitomi. You're Chaewon, right?"
"I dreamt about you"
"About me?"
"You look frail and you're writing a song there.. then you gave everyone around you a broken a smile"
"What happened after that?"
"You died."
"That's what you call "Dreams Come True" if that ever happens. I am going to die, finally..."
"You want to die?"
"Eversince. I may look afraid to face it but i am ready to die, i am just waiting for the dark reaper to collect my soul and be judged above"
"Have you ever thought about its Aftermath? Do you think that Death will resolve anything?"
"Yes, the picture will be colorful again. I shouldn't be here in the first place"
"What else? What about those people who loves you? Who truly cares for you? Have you ever thought about what would they feel? The kind of pain they'll feel if you die?"
"The more i live, the more pain i'll cause them. They'll learn how to get rid of the pain if i die"
Chaewon didn't say a word. She just stared at her while Hitomi is looking at the sky.
"Say unnie, you know that dream of yours. It already happened" then she gave her a broken smile "I am already dead, see?"
Chaewon angrily grinned "RUBBISH! You can't be dead! You're not dead!!"Then she holds her cold hands "I can see you, i can feel you, I can touch you.." her tears starts falling little by little while Hitomi was just staring at her.
She holds her face and lean her forehead to hers then closed her eyes. Chaewon was still crying
"That's because you're still unto grasp of those memories. You should have thrown them a long time ago--"
"No! You're lying!" she subtlety screamed. "You're wrong! Everyone can see you!"
"That's because you're in the world where i am still alive, the world that only exists in your mind" Hitomi's tears starts falling as her body starts fading away "Let me go now unnie. You deserve to live longer than i am. You shant missed those good things that this world has to offer.. My death shant be a hindrance to those things.. let me go unnie, let go of me"
Chaewon tried to stop her from fading by hugging her tight "THOSE THINGS ARE POINTLESS WITHOUT YOU. Let me come with you, please.."
"No unnie, one must go in order to achieve the real happiness in life. Just keep me in your heart, i won't disappear, the song that i wrote, its for you unnie. Always listen to that song and remember that" then she gently pushes her and holds her hand "That you'll find those days that you missed on swings in Merry Go Round.. like how i found you"
"Stop.."
"Goodbye.."

I woke up again..
Grasping unto something that i havent seen..

A random words that rings in my head. It appewrs to be a music that i know but never heard before..

My feet seems to be taking me to a place where those words are coming from.

My feet decided to take me here in this place that i can only see on dreams. But this was a bit lonely.. everything here is destroyed.. nothing was left .. Except to my longing for that person..

"Hey"
I look behind and saw the same face that i have seen on my dream..

Oh sweet dream naui kkumiyeo

"Are you lost?"
"You..."
Then i hold her hand in disbelief. She was just smiling. I suddenly pulled her closer to me and hugs her. "You..."
"Is there something wrong?"
"Your warm body.. I have felt this before. Thank God i found you."
She just smiled and embraced me back.

Maya closed the book.
"That was a good one Okaa!" Nina cried. Maya looks at Hitomi. "Heard that Tommi? Your story is a good one. You even put the song you wrote here.."
Hitomi just smiled.
"I'm glad you appreciate it guys." Then looks at Nina "Goodnight"
"Hitomi-unnie!" Nina called.
"Hmm?"
"Can you sing me a little melody of Merrie Go Round?"
"Nina?"
"Hmm" Nina said then looks down. "Oyasumi Okaa, Oyasumi unnie"
"Its okay" Then Hitomi sits beside Nina and puts her head on her lap. "You're spoiling our Maknae too much onee" Maya said while smiling.
Hitomi was just caressing Nina's hair while humming Merrie Go Round.
Maya rested her shoulders on Hitomi and closed her eyes "I want to hear that too onee"
Little did they know that Sakura and Mako are watching them through their room's peephole.
"That's my girl" Sakura said while smiling.
"Didn't expect Nina and Maya to be this baby." Then looks at Sakura "I admire Hitomi's way of expressing her ideals. She really is a good match with Maya who also prowess in that kind of forte"
"Thank you" Sakura replied.
"Sakura-onee"
"Yes?"
Mako stared at her with straight face.
"I want to be an idol like you"
Sakura just pats her shoulders "You don't have to. You are Mako, i am Sakura. We are in different paths and you are better than me."
Mako just smiled.
"Lets go now. The babies are sleeping. And you still have a performance tomorrow"
Then both of them went to their respective rooms.
