Hwan - Jangmi's Room

Hwan - Jangmi's POV

Once again, history was repeating itself. Everything was happening all over again. The helpless eyes screaming in silence and asking for help. Me not being able to do anything. Everything. The walking. The glowing light. Failing to escape. All these things were happening again. I kept on screaming and screaming. It felt like I was going to lose my voice soon. My whole body was filled with an uncontrollable fear. I was struggling to breathe.

Sweat dripped down my body. I was shaking. I felt like I could die at any moment now. The voice tried to fasten the process. It kept on discouraging me and tried to push me down the awful black hole. The hole of fear. I fought with the last amount of power left in me. I was about to give up when I was being pulled out. Out of this awful nightmare. Someone was pulling me out. A soothing voice spoke gentle, calming words. I stopped shaking and managed to escape....

I opened my eyes. It was still night and everything was completely dark. I sat up on my bed breathing heavily. Tears kept rolling down my face. I couldn't breathe. I was shaking and dripping with sweat. I heard some rustling beside my bed. My already fastened heartbeat set off into a sprint. I tried to calm myself down and slowly bent over to see Uncle Yoongi on the floor.

He stood up and sat down on my bed. I tried to speak but was not able to. The nightmare kept flashing in my brain. I tried to take deep breaths but was not able to. I felt like I would run out of air. I was not able to think straight. Before I could do anything, Uncle Yoongi cautiously extended his hands towards me motioning for a hug. I unknowingly leaned forward and accepted the hug. He wrapped his hands around me tightly. I could feel the warmth of his body.

I put my head on his chest and closed my eyes. I could feel his heartbeat while he rubbed my back. I focused on his breathing and tried to match it with mine. I don't know how long we stayed like this, but I could finally breathe and felt myself calm down. I did not realize that I had gripped his T-shirt tightly and had cried in it as well. I moved out of his embrace and took a deep shaky breath. "Uh... Thanks Uncle... Did I wake you up? And what were you doing on the floor?"

Uncle Yoongi had a weird expression on his face, somewhere between awkwardness and laughter, "I was awake as usual and was going downstairs to get some water when I heard you screaming. I came in to see you having a nightmare or something. So I came near you and tried to shake you awake when you started thrashing. In that process you unknowingly pushed me down the bed..." He trailed off and looked at me.

I squeezed my eyes shut in embarrassment. "I'm so sorry Uncle for that. You can go to your room now. I'm really sorry for this... And thank you for waking me up. I-" He cut me, "Hwan, this is the last time I'm saying this to you. I'm your Uncle. It's my duty to take care of you and protect you. And more than duty it is something I would do for anyone I love. You are the only person I have left as a family." he said in a....disappointed tone? I sighed at myself. I was bad at consoling people. And I had upset him. Oh, God! What do I do!?

He must have seen my inner panic through my face. "Hwan, don't take this to your heart. I'm not trying to make you feel bad. I'm trying to make you understand that we love you. And we would do anything we can to help you. So you shouldn't be on your toes around us. We are your family. You can talk to us when you have problems. Alright?"

I nodded in understanding. Uncle Yoongi stared at me for a few seconds before saying, "You usually go out for runs, right? Well, today's your lucky day. I'm in the mood for some exercise. So, go and dress up. Meet me by the door in 5 minutes. Don't make any nose, okay?" I smiled and nodded with excitement.
