4 page script from theatre class.

Characters: Alex, Elaine, Katherine

The scene takes place in Alex's apartment. Alex is sitting at their desk in their room in a spinning chair. Papers and pens are strewn about everywhere. Alex is on the phone with their editor, Katherine, having a very heated argument.

Alex: "I told you I turned it in already! Yes, I did! It was chapter three of the new season!" They roll their chair backwards and sigh angrily. "Fine. I'll check it again, but I know I'm right." They hang up the phone, stand up, and put it in their pocket. They approached the desk and began to pick up papers and look through them frantically. "Now where did I put that request form?"

The scene changes. Now Alex is sitting outside of a fancy cafe with Katherine and Elaine, the assistant artist. They're all holding papers and cell phones, discussing their latest project.

Katherine: "I told you to be careful! You're recklessness is going to lose us our money one day, you know."

Elaine: "Aw, Kat, don't be like that!"

Alex: "Elaine!! Why are you sticking up for her? I'm the one who needs it here!"

Elaine: Takes a sip of her tea. "Because we both know it's not your fault you're a little dull in the brain."

Alex: "OH YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!"

Katherine: "Have some decency and lower your voice. You're in public you idiot!"

Alex: "WHAT DID YOU SAY TO ME?!"

Katherine: "I can quit my job at any time. Just keep screaming."

Alex crosses their arms and sticks their tongue out at Katherine.

Katherine: "What is wrong with you? What were you raised in, a barn?"

Alex: "Hey now!"

Elaine: Laughs. "Was that pun intended?"

Alex: "What? What pun?"

Katherine: "Oh my GOD, you're an idiot! Just eat your food and listen to us for a minute, would you?"

Alex: "You know, you're always acting so proper, like you're some kind of English lady from a historical drama."

Katherine: "What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Alex: "I said it like it is. I meant nothing by it."

Katherine: She gives Alex a skeptical glance. "Sure, that's what you say." She sighs.

Elaine: "Back to the matter at hand, we were asked to do a special chapter for the upcoming spring contest. If we're able to land a spot, we'd get paid handsomely. Last I checked, the number one winner gets about fifteen thousand dollars."

Katherine: "Fifteen thousand? Are you sure it wasn't one thousand five hundred?"

Elaine: "Nope. It's fifteen thousand."

Alex: "So wouldn't that be, like, five thousand for each of us?"

Elaine: "Maybe. I'm no good at mental math."

Katherine: "Wow, it seems like you do use your brain every once in a while Alex."

Alex: "Is that a compliment?"

Katherine: "Too bad you can't use that brain power when it's convenient."

Alex: "Say what now?!"

Elaine: "If that was a compliment, it was a backhanded one, I think."

Alex: "Yeah, well, who asked either of you?"

Katherine: "Could you be any more rude?"

Alex: "You started it!"

Elaine: "Guys, please. Let's not fight here any longer. I'd hate for us to get kicked out of another meeting spot because of you two."

They sit in silence for a moment. Then Katherine clears her throat, breaking the silence.

Katherine: "Right. So, what are we gonna do for that contest chapter?"

Alex reaches into their bag and pulls out a small handful of papers.

Alex: "Well, here's what I was thinking..."

The curtain closes while they're discussing what to do for their webcomic contest.
