I sit on the end of the couch holding a mug of coffee that I haven't even had a sip of. I'm so tired. Can I just take a nap right here? My eyes begin to droop closed, just a couple minutes. I feel the mug begin to slowly go out of my hand and my eyes dart open as I jerk awake.

When my eyesight clears up I see that Five was taking my cup from me. "Chill out Av, I'm just grabbing this so you don't drop it," he says smiling softly. "Get a little bit of sleep. I'll wake you up when I need you, okay?"

I smile at him weakly and nod as I get up and move to the other side of the couch so that Five and Vanya could talk. It wasn't actually so that I could lay down or anything. However, it did feel hella good. I close my eyes again and hear them quietly talk to each other.

"I survived on scraps. Canned food, cockroaches, anything I could find." Five chuckles weakly, "You know that rumor that twinkies have an endless shelf life? Well, it's total bullshit."

"I can't even imagine."

"You do what it takes to survive, or you die."

"So we adapted." I rolled my eyes, while they were still closed of course. We. Him and that dumb mannequin. I swear I want to throw that thing out of the damn window. "Whatever the world threw at us, we found a way to overcome it."

"You and Ava?" No that fucking mannequin that he carries around everywhere. I'm surprised he hasn't gone to find her yet. Fucking dumbass plastic bitch.

"You got anything stronger?" Forget this, I'm going to sleep.

I'm guessing it was only a few minutes I had been asleep before I heard a glass being placed down rather roughly somewhere in the distance. Christ, can I just get twenty minutes of quality sleep? Please? That's all I ask.

I heard Five sigh lightly before saying, "I must have gotten the equations wrong," quite loudly I may add. Hello? Some consideration for the sleeping person here, please?

"I mean, Dad always used to say that....time travel could mess up your mind. Well, maybe that's what's happening?"

There is the sound of a glass being placed down again. For fuck's sake. "This was a mistake. You're too young...too naive to understand."

Next thing I know Five is beside me gently shaking me awake. "Come on let's go," he says while trying to get me up and towards the door. My body isn't exactly cooperating so he's pretty much carrying me. Can't I just crash here?

"No. Five...Five, wait," Vanya begs. Five, and therefore me, stops moving and turns to face her.

"I haven't seen you in a long time, and I don't want to lose you again. That's all. And you know what, it's getting late, and I have lessons early and I need to sleep, and I'm sure you guys need to, too. Here." Vanya moves toward the couch which I previously occupied and begins to half-heartedly set it up. "We'll talk again in the morning again. Okay? I promise." She seems to realize something with a small start, "Oh, um, I'm sorry I don't have another couch or something but I mean there's the chair if you don't want to share."

My eyes open up a little wider at the small realization. I go to say something but Five is quicker, "It's fine, thank you, Vanya." She nods her head and we exchange small "Night"s while passing us to her bedroom.

I walk over and sit in the chair where Five sat originally. "I-I can take the chair if you want the couch. I don't mind," I say while yawning and rubbing my eye again.

He watches to make sure Vanya's door is closed, "No you can take the couch. I have to go somewhere anyway. You can just stay here and sleep some."

I stand back up, "No, no, no, what do you mean you," I point a finger at him, "are going somewhere? You mean we," I move my finger in between us, "are going somewhere. You don't get to pick and choose this partner thing. You got me the whole way so suck it up buttercup cause I'm coming with."

"Fine," he says sitting on the couch, "then we are going to stay for an hour so that you can get a nap in and you aren't cranky later." He grabs a piece of cloth from out of his pocket and begins to unwrap the oh so familiar creepy eyeball.

I get up and move beside him on the couch to look at the hunk of glass. Five sighs while looking at it then flips it around to look at the serial number and manufacturer's name on the back. "We'll find who it belongs to, don't worry Five," I say while looping my arms through his left and laying my head on his shoulder.

Five hums in response then the room goes silent for a peaceful minute. "Alright go ahead and sleep so we can leave as soon as possible. We have somewhere to be," he says as he stands up and moves over to sit in his chair.

I lay down on the couch and snuggle my head into one of the pillows. "See, You're finally getting the whole partner thing," I mumble into my pillow.

Five softly scoffs at my comment as he turns off the light. "Go to sleep, Ava."

"Don't have to tell me twice," I say closing my eyes.

"I already have."

"Shhhhh I'm trying to sleep."
