Cassy

I woke up the next day to the sound of my alarm. I reached out to turn it off. The clock read, "seven thirty". I have at least two hours to get ready for the book signing event. It was the first event for the initial launch of my new book. I also needed to say something about it.

I think this was the largest audience of two hundred guests I ever had. Book signing events and launches would usually cater about fifty to a hundred guests so it's a crowd I'm really expecting.

I got up and picked the formal attire I just got delivered from the tailor's shop the other day. It was a black lady's suit, paired with a white long-sleeves designed with a white cloth that hung from the neck. The black blazer wasn't that long, just below the elbow like the white three-fourth sleeves which made it seem feminine. I matched it with a black closed high-heels to fit the fashion.

I laid the outfit onto my bed and proceeded to the bathroom to rinse myself. I hopped into the shower and allowed the warm water take my worries away. The point of this day, just enjoy and stop thinking of things that will bother me. Let's do a good job, Cassy.

My bare feet came in contact with the cold tiles as I got out of the shower. I reached for the towel that was hanging and wrapped it around my naked body. Then proceeded to dress myself.

I sat myself in front of the mirror table and applied light make up on my face. I'm not really a big fan of cosmetics. I just wear them to at least look presentable. It would usually be such a hassle to put make up because I'd always have to make sure that the material wouldn't harm my skin.

You see I'm very sensitive to cosmetics. My skin would just swell and I would have to take medicines to relieve it. Yup, that's a bummer I know but it didn't bother me much. I just have to be cautious when around those things.

I finished preparing myself and scurried around the place to prepare my handbag and all the necessities. My phone, my pen, tissue and things I usually bring with me. While in the middle of going around the room, I saw the blue handkerchief, I stopped for a brief moment and went to pick it up. Eyeing it, I tried my best to at least remember but I couldn't. I let out a huff and put it down again.

Okay, what am I forgetting?

Oh! My lucky bracelet!

I rushed towards the mirror table, opened the silver heart accessory container and guided my fingers towards the silver bracelet that was designed with three flowers that were made up of diamonds.

This was my mom's. She would also wear it every time she was writing her new book, it was her lucky charm and it became mine too the moment she gifted me with it.

I checked myself in the mirror for the last time and told myself, "Good luck, do well Cassy." I nodded along.

I took in a deep breath and went out of the room and out of the house, locking it behind. I unlocked my car, tossing my hand bag inside in the passenger seat. I slid down the driver's seat, put the seatbelt on lock and drove out to the streets.

As I drove along the streets, I noticed that it was raining. Honestly, this is my favorite weather. I'd usually sneak myself under the blankets or just rest by the balcony, writing with some faint music in the background.

Ah, music, yes. I parked my car for a brief moment in the side of the streets and took my phone out to play some music. I had at least an hour until the event so there was no need to rush.

I gripped the steering wheel and started driving again. I hummed along to the tune and casually stepped on the gas for acceleration. It was a nice and steady travel when I realized I was already at the venue.
