Ellis

Cassy and I were staring at the sunset before us. Honestly this was a first for me. I never watched the sunset with anyone like this, let alone with a girl and with Cassidy West. Yes, I knew who she was but I refrained myself from asking her about her life as a world-renowned writer.

Ever since I met her back in the bar, I saw her fragile side, the side she never told the world about. The day we met at the bookstore, I was actually caught off guard when she noticed the book I was holding. I had to lie that it was for a friend, when in fact was really for me.

I didn't want her to know that I recognized her because she seemed to be very comfortable upon thinking that I had no idea on who she was. It allowed her to live an ordinary life.

I shifted my gaze towards Cassy to ask if this was her first time seeing a sunset " Cassy?" I spoke lowly and turned to her but her head fell onto my shoulder. She was asleep. Cassy fell asleep on my shoulder.

I cautiously looked around the place, not knowing what to do. Okay, my heart was beating hastily, I did not know what to do. I felt my shoulder growing tense.

I took a peek at her face but her hair was getting in the way so I lifted my hand to brush away the strands. My fingers stride across her face. I was able to see how calm her emotions were. Completely different from how I would usually see her.

She was always crying whenever we encountered each other. She looked so innocent before me right now. I felt my heart tug a string. She seemed dazzled in this world of hers. She appeared so delicate.

Cassy

I opened my eyes to realize that I drifted to sleep and to see that I was resting my head on Ellis' shoulder. My eyes widened as I frantically lift my head from him.

"Oh my gosh. Sorry!" I apologized.

He snickered. "Are you blushing?" I held my cheeks and looked away in embarrassment.

"No," I slowly turned back to him softly,

"Did I drool?"

Ellis broke into a laughter, shaking his head. "No, you didn't, Cassy!" he spoke in between laughs.

"Stop laughing! I was just trying to make sure I didn't leave any mark on you." I frowned at him.

He tried to contain his laughter and stared at him amusingly. "Yeah, yeah."

"Why did you not wake me up? Have I been asleep for long?" I asked him.

"Hmm, for thirty minutes?" he pursed his lips. "I didn't want to disturb you. You seemed exhausted. Besides, thirty minutes isn't that long anyway." He reassured me.

I looked around the place only to realized that it was already kind of dark out.

"We should get going." I ushered while I stood up on my feet.

"Oh, yeah. It's getting darker by the minute." He nodded and forced himself up.

"Bye, mom." I stared at her tombstone before turning away.

"I'll give you a ride home." I offered Ellis who was standing beside me.

"No, thanks. I'll just catch a cab or something." He rejected but I insisted.
