Cassy
"Hey." Ellis waved his hand in front of me to grab my attention.
"Yes?" I snap back from my trance, zeroing in my focus on to him.
"I was asking about what you wanted for lunch," he repeated,
"Anything." I answered shortly,
"Uh, okay." he stared at me and tapped on his phone.
The reason why I was zoning out was because of what happened the other night with Mark. Honestly, tell you what? I am the WORST person to ever exist in this world. Why? First of all, we ended up going home after the whole thing happened.
Here's the catch, I wasn't able to say a single word on the way home. We just stayed silent, I didn't even wave him a good bye or even a thank you. Yes, it was the worst. What makes it way more heart shaking is the fact that Mark is supposed to leave tomorrow for South Korea and he isn't coming back until next year, spring.
Second, my boyfriend is right next to me and I haven't been taking interest in what he was saying. Let alone, everything that happened without his knowing. How the hell am I supposed to handle this?
"Darling, hey." Ellis cooed, snatching my attention for real.
I scrunched my nose at him, "Did we have a conversation about our term of endearment? I'm fine with just Cassy."
He fixed his posture and cleared his throat, probably realizing how cringy he was seconds ago. "Cass, Cassidy, Cassidy West. They didn't seem to grab your attention. But darling did." He retaliated,
I laughed and shook my head. He smiled at me but it was quick to falter, "You seem to be very preoccupied. Something troubling you?"
Should I tell him or...
"Anything you want to share with me?" he motioned, matching my gaze. I stare into his eyes in worry. Should I? What if he reacts differently?
"It's just..." I began, retracting my eyes from his to stare down at my hands. "About, uh." I cleared my throat, "Mark." Silence filled the air and I heave in a deep breath trying to continue what I started.
"Is this about him confessing?" he beat me to it. I raise my head in an abrupt manner and reflect my wide eyes on him.
"You know??" I managed to spit out, still in the state of processing what he just said.
He smacked his lips together and put on the calmest expression. He nodded, "Yep."
"And you're not...mad?" I gauge his reaction.
He shook his head, "Why would I?" chuckling lightly.
"Oh, it's just that. Uhm, I didn't tell you." I looked down and played with the sleeve of my sweater. "How did you know by the way?"
"I just felt it. He looked at you way differently than how a best friend would." He said in a calm manner, still. I bit my lip and nodded for him to go on. "Plus, we kind of talked the other day. No beef." He chuckled,
"You two talked??" I shoot up in realization with what he just said.
"Yeah." He blinked, "He called me, who am I to reject his plea to talk? He just explained things and told me that he was happy that you finally have someone and that I should to a good job in taking care of you or else he's come back and tear me up in pieces." He paused ad smiled, "You see, there was a hint of threat but whatever."
"Take care," I snickered, "Am I a baby or what?" It was comforting to know that they were on good terms and that Ellis wasn't mad or anything. Mark, on the other hand, he's still the best.
