Cassy

"You're really sure you're ready to go back and continue writing??" Ellis asked for the nth time this day on our phone call, his voice turning high-pitched.

I sighed and said, "Yes, Ellis. I am."

"Okay, okay. I'll come get you tomorrow, it's Sunday anyways." He offered, his words coming out in haste.

"Don't worry about picking me up, go rest. I'll have to drive my car home either way." I rejected his offer.

"I won't be able to rest thinking about you," he said flirtatiously.

"Uh, Ellis." I blushed, good thing he wasn't here. He's seen me blush too much already.

"What?" he asked innocently,

"Nothing, nothing." I chuckled.

"Okay, then, Hey, I have to get going. I need to buy some medicine at the drug store. I'll call you later, okay?" he terminated,

"Mhmm," I stared at the ceiling,

"Bye," he breathed and the phone call ended. I laid on the bed thinking of what awaits me when I go back home.

I grunted while stretching after arriving in my house. I'm back, after almost a month of running away, hiding, I'm finally back. I opened my door and switched the lights on.

Upon entering, I felt the familiar feeling of anxiety and fear creeping up on me. I quickly shook away the thoughts that attempted to come back. Just by thinking of it makes my guts churn.

I padded towards the kitchen and check if there was anything that I could eat. I wasn't expecting much aside from the two remaining packs of cookies inside my fridge since I don't recall doing the groceries before abruptly leaving.

What? Don't ask me, why would you leave your fridge eerie? You have lots of money! Okay, first of all, I live by myself and who even thinks of doing the groceries when they have a LOT in mind—first of which is wanting to run away? Second, why am I even having this debate by myself. We're telling a story, Cassy. Focus!

Anyway, I opened the fridge only to find myself stunned. Clearly, there weren't just two packs of cookies inside, I can't even see them since the fridge was full.

Who bought these? Ellis? He doesn't even know my combination. Well, Sarah does... Yeah, probably her.

I rummaged through the contents and grabbed the pastries. I helped myself to two cookies and rubbed my hands together to get rid of the crumbs.

I went up the stairs and to my room, plopping down onto the bed. I grabbed my phone and scrolled on it to text Sarah,

To Sarah : I'm back home.

She didn't reply instantly so I was guessing she was still in work. I went on to message Ellis,

To Ellis : Hey, I'm back home already.

I received a reply from him minutes after.

Ellis : Good to know, dinner tonight? I can cook. I miss you already.

I bit my lip in attempt to hide the smile that was growing but unfortunately, it was a tiring drive for me and I know it was an exhausting work day for him.

To Ellis : I'd love to but I think I'm going to stay in tonight.. tired of the driving.
