Cassy

"Oh, you're already awake," I heard a voice speak.

I looked around to check the room and saw Ellis sitting on the carpet beside my bed.

"You.. you scared me." I breathed out while covering my chest with my palm.

"Are you okay?? How do you feel?" he asked me while he stood up.

"I think so," I felt my stomach grumble.

"Have you eaten?" he asked, helping me fix my posture.

"I haven't had anything since yesterday." I admitted shyly.

"I bought food. Let's eat?" he looked concerned but one thing came to my mind. Why was he here? I was sure he already knew about the issue, why did he act like it was nothing to him. He works with a publishing company and I probably think all companies hate me by now but he was here.

I attempted standing up. Thankfully, my body cooperated and I was able to carry myself. Ellis was behind me as we were going down the stairs.

He fixed the chair for me to sit on and prepared the food. I watched as he moved around to fix things. I sighed and looked down to my fingers.

He put the medicine in front of me together with the food. I was silent the whole time, I was too embarrassed to say anything and I didn't even know why.

"Sarah went home to her family, she said there was an emergency and told me to come and check on you." He informed me.

I kept my head down for a few minutes and looked at him, "Ellis, I—" I stuttered as I try to find the right words to explain myself.

"I believe you. I will always believe you." He looked directly at me, and I was reminded of the girl I met back in the mall. "You don't have to try and explain yourself because I will choose to believe your eyes." He added.

In this point, I was already crying. He leaned towards me and wiped a tear, "You can cry if you want but you have to keep fighting, alright? You are much better than what they say of you." He comforted me as I nodded.

"Let's eat! You need energy if you want to fight through it."

I ate in silence and he didn't try to do anything with it. He respected my emotions and that it was normal to react this way at some point. He just sat there and made sure that I was sane.

Right now, I didn't know what would happen to me if he didn't come into my life. I was thankful that he wasn't swayed by everything he could've seen on the internet. I was glad there was someone aside from the few people in my life who truly cared for me.

"What do you want to do after eating? You want to watch a movie or something?" he suggested.

      I shrugged, "I don't know.."

"You should go home, you still have work tomorrow." I said.

"It's fine, I don't want to leave you all alone here." He shook his head, "We can watch a movie so you can refresh your mind."

"It's really okay. I'm going to be fine. You should hurry home and rest. You seem to be exhausted already." I insisted and stood up after eating. I didn't want to burden him with my problem, for all I know, he had his own things to attend to.
