Cassy
"No, Sarah. That's the point, he hasn't been home for days." I told Sarah in mere frustration.
"When was the last time you two met?" she asked me,
"Uh, three days ago?" I told her plainly.
"And when did you decide to visit his place?" she went on, taking a sip on her iced coffee.
"Uhm, two days ago." I said nonchalantly,
"Did you tell him that you went there?" she asked further. Right, I haven't told him that I went to his place, I got distracted with thinking about where he would've been.
"What are we talking about here, ladies?" Leah interrupted our talk when she came back from checking the coffee machine.
"Love problems." Sarah chuckled,
I gave out a desperate sigh and said, "It's about Ellis. He hasn't been going home for already a week, as I know."
"But you two are still talking right?" Leah asked, lowering herself down on her seat.
I nod at her, "Yes, we talk over the phone and we met three days ago."
"Oh. You should ask him if there's something happening." Leah suggested,
"That's what I told Sarah, but she said I should give him space." I gaze at my other friend who was busy with her muffin.
"That's why Mike doesn't have a lot to tell," Leah rolled her eyes at Sarah.
"Okay, first of all. Ouch." Sarah looked at the both of us, "I just think Ellis needs some time to himself. If he really needs someone then he'll—no doubt, tell Cassy." She stated,
"No, honey. You see, not everyone will be the one to reach out if they have problems. Some like to keep it on their own but is waiting for someone to at least ask them if everything's alright. You need to make a move at times. And in Ellis' case..." Leah drifted her gaze to me,
"He doesn't really tell much about his problems," I said, continuing Leah's statement.
"Thus, you need to reach out for communication to take place." She finished,
Sarah groaned and said, "Okay, okay. I get it."
"Anyway, call him." Leah said, leisurely placing her back against her seat—comfortably until we hear another mishap coming from the counter. Leah squeezed her eyes shut and inhaled an amount of oxygen before saying, "I'll be back."
She walked away, leaving Sarah and I amongst ourselves again. "She did get engaged, but she's living a hell with her new intern." Sarah laughed, shaking her head.
"Give it a chance." I chuckled back at her.
Despite being in a light atmosphere now with Sarah, I know I had to do something about Ellis.
I check the time on my phone and saw that it was already eleven in the evening. I got so immersed in writing that I lost track of time. I yawned and stretched, releasing the air I've had inside of me for long. I save my file and close the laptop.
I stayed still for a while, staring into space until my eyes focused on sheets of paper. Then, I suddenly remember the talk I had with Ellis last week. It was about the contract. Right! I almost forgot about that.
I've already received feedback about the company he is working at and they were all rather positive. Plus, the book that Ellis and I discussed about months ago, the one of Dinah Green as I recall? The new writer, I was actually impressed that a company took interest in publishing her work.
