Cassy

My vision blurred but I saw Ellis running towards me. I felt his grip on me when he attempted to prevent me from falling down. "Cassy!"

I started to regain my vision within minutes and was fully aware of the surroundings again. My eyes opened to Ellis looking down at me.

"What happened? Are you really okay?" he asked worryingly.

"I think I just need to go home and rest myself." I spoke.

"Where's your car? I'll drive you home." he offered me, looking around the place.

"No, thank you. I think I can manage by myself." I stood up but stumbled, thankfully he did not lose his grip on me or else I might have fallen down.

Ellis reached his palm out to me asking for the car keys. In this state of mine, I didn't have a choice but to give him my keys and allow him to drive me home.

"Okay, where is your car?" he asked.

"It's at the parking lot, right there." I motioned, using my lips to point at the direction.

We walked towards the car and he was at my back the whole time, cautious enough for me. Once we arrived, he slid on the driver's seat. He started the engine and drove us to the roads.

The ride was very silent and I kept glancing out the window. There was actually faint music in the background as we made the drive on our way to my house. It didn't felt that awkward at some point, we just did not bother each other that much.

As I was looking outside, I noticed a girl sitting on a bench when a friend, perhaps, approached her. I remembered Sarah, then. There were moments where we would enjoy each other's company when she forced me to go out and take a break whenever I was working on a book.

I took my phone from my pocket and checked if there would be any signs from her but I was just disappointed to see that she wasn't there. How long is she going to keep this up? Was she really hurt? Should I reach out to here? So many questions but my mind refuses to answer any.

"Where do we...?" Ellis turned to me, asking the way to my house.

"Oh, it's just right around the corner. You can take a left here." I instructed.

"Then?" he prompted.

"Another turn and just park by the house with a black gate." he nodded and followed my instructions.

We arrived in front of my house and I climbed out of the car. I waited for him to turn the engine off and approach me for the keys.

"How are you going to--?" he cut me off by speaking, "Oh, I have an appointment in the city actually so there's no trouble."

I replied, "Oh." and nodded softly.

"So... you live alone?" he asked, while stuffing his hands inside his pockets.

"I do, actually for the past five years now." I breathed and diverted my eyes towards my house.

It had a nice interior, and a small garden in front just beyond the gate. Which I'm standing at now. The colors were combinations of white and caramel brown. It was spacious to be very honest.

Ever since, as a child, I've always dreamed of having a big house to myself. Well, it turned out to be my very first investment as a writer. I can remember the first time I moved into this place. Mom was with me.
