Chapter 19

Tahimik lamang akong kumakain sa hapag. I called my parents after learning about the tumor. They both left their work to be with me and assure me that everything will be alright. Well, is it, though? Hindi ko pa rin maiwasang hindi mangamba sa tuwing naiisip ko ang kalagayan ko.

I can feel their gazes pointed at me. Nang mag-angat ako ng tingin ay saka naman sila nagkunwaring kumakain. Seamus tapped my shoulder and tears immediately pooled in my eyes after doing that.

"I'm sorry for the misunderstanding yesterday. It's just that I love you so much and I don't wanna to see you getting hurt. Please don't cry, sister..." his voice broke.

Even Sinead and Pawdrig are here. Binabantayan ni Yaya Celia si Eliana sa taas habang ito ay natutulog. I don't like them looking at me with sorrowful eyes like I don't have any time left. Agad kong pinalis ang luha ko bago pa man ito tuluyang tumulo at tiningnan ang pamilya ko isa-isa.

"I am not dying, alright! I don't even know if it's really that big. And even if it is, I am still gonna survive."

Sa totoo lang, sa sarili ko iyon sinasabi. Pilit kong tinatatak sa utak ko na malalampasan ko rin ito. And the best thing to do to overcome my fear is to face them with my head held high. I am not gonna be defeated by the tumor.

I took a lab test again and had an MRI after consulting from an Endocrinologist. It is a microadenoma which means I can get it treated even with medication alone. The medications I am taking isn't gonna make the tumor disappear in instance but to make it shrink. It's a long process and I have no choice but to put up with it if I want to be back to normal again.

I am always at home most of the time whenever I don't have school and school-related stuff. Kung meron man, I always make sure that I get it done immediately so I can take a rest to prevent stress. The side effects of the medicine are just the same as the tumor's symptoms, but my doctor says I will get used to it soon.

Mom is preparing my food while I am busy playing with Eliana. Sinead decided to leave her here para naman may mapaglibangan ako. Good thing she's not becoming like those typical kids yet. You know, the naughty and noisy ones. Ngayon pa lang ay pinagdadasal ko nang sana tahimik lang itong bata paglaki. Ayokong tubuan agad ng puting buhok kakasaway sa pamangkin ko.

Mukhang masyado itong sinanay ni Sinead sa pakikinig ng mga Disney song, particularly Frozen soundtracks. And as we were both humming to Let It Go, my phone suddenly rang. Dali-dali kong kinuha ang phone ko na nakapatong pala sa sofa at sinagot iyon. Bumalik din ako sa kinaroroonan ni Eliana pagkatapos.

"How are you feeling?" Marceu asks on the other line.

"I feel nauseous. Probably because of the Cabergoline," Cabergoline is the medicine I am taking to make the tumor shrink. Honestly, if I would be given the chance to throw away anything that's valuable to me, I won't hesitate to pick Cabergoline. I am not overreacting but I just can't tolerate the pain just like that. There were times that I always ended up crying to bed after taking meds. And sometimes, I wish I could just convince my parents to let me have my tumor removed so that the pain would be taken away but they're afraid that once it happen, it could leave a permanent damage on me. And that's the least of the thing they don't want happening to me.

"Wait, where are you?" I said when I heard the engine of a car stopped running. Hindi nagtagal ay ang pagsara ng pinto nito hudyat na lumabas siya.

"I'm going to have fun with my girlfriend." He said and moments after, I heard the bell ringing. I immediately stood up to go to the main door to see if it's really him but I stopped midway when I heard Eliana crying. She wants me to take her with me. Kinuha ko ito at kinarga at naglakad patungo sa main door para salubungin si Marceu. He then waved when he saw us. Marami itong hawak na paperbag at umagaw sa atensyon ko ang pangalan ng isang sikat na toy company. He's really spoiling someone.
