I woke up to a different room. I panicked as a strange ceiling welcomed me, confused because it seems like I am not in my own room. I blinked my eyes when my vision seems to be pellucid. I saw a doctor and a nurse came rushing towards me. He shines a light on my eyes and I squinted after feeling a little discomfort from it. I stared at the man standing in front of me wearing a dark blue scrubs, white coat, and eyeglasses. He put the stethoscope that was hanging on his shoulder across my chest to check my breathing. I stared at the embroidered letters of his coat's left side pocket.

Montgomery Arceus Desmarais, M.D.
Neurosurgery

"Y-you're... a... doctor...?" I managed to speak despite the fact that I am having a hard time to even open my mouth.

Napatingin ang nurse sa kaniya habang ito naman ay natigilan. He looked at me straight in the eye, his green eyes twinkled. I shifted my gaze to the other side just to avoid his hypnotizing eyes. My forehead creased when I get a glimpse on my sorrounding. It seems like I am in a room full of sick people and I am one of them. Am I in the ICU?

"It's possible for you to be confused, or even lose some of you memory. But it's only for a while." I heard him speak. That was my cue to look at him again. What is he talking about?

"What happened t-to me...? Why am I... here?"

The doctor in front of me is Marceu, my childhood crush that I cannot reach because I am clearly out of his league. It's best to just bury my feelings for him and forget my little fantasies. However, the last time I saw him, he was still a graduating student in Medicine. How come he's already a doctor?

"You just had a brain surgery to remove a pituitary tumor that eventually resulted in losing your vision. Now, can you tell me if you see this?" He showed me his palm and I answered yes. He instructed me to count his fingers like a kindergarten student. I tore my eyes apart from him for a second because I am getting dizzy. I wanna sleep again.

"Can you move your arms for me?" With trembling hands, I obeyed him but even if I use my strength, I can only manage to lift my arms for a short period of time. Ganoon din ang pinagawa niya sa kabila kong braso at magkabilang paa. I heaved a sigh after doing that.

"Are we not done yet? I feel drowsy."

Tumango ito at bumaling na sa kasamang nurse at sa doctor na kakarating lamang. They converse with each other silently to which I am not paying much attention as all I could think about is to sleep. And so I doze off.

Waking up has been hard for me as I felt my weak body. I couldn't even move that much because of the tubes that are connected to my body. Marceu is frequent in checking on me every time I wake up. Every time he's near, my curiosity is just getting bigger and bigger, as I felt that there's something deeper in our relationship. That we're not just acquainted with each other.

I was transferred to my room on the same day. My family is there waiting for my arrival. I even saw an unfamiliar tall man with them, but later on, recognized who he was. He nodded at me.

The nurses are busy setting me up while the doctor who I remembered talking to Marceu in the ICU explained the possible symptoms of my post-op and the likes. She also advised me to try walking around to help improve my balance. And if they see no complications from my illness and surgery, there's a possibility that I can go home as soon as possible.

"Dr. Desmarais and your Endocrinologist will come here to tell you about your further treatment and prescriptions. Mauna na po ako," paalam ni Dr. Zamora. Bumaling ito kina Mama at Papa at bahagyang yumuko. Sumunod na rin ang mga nurse sa kaniya.
