Chapter 34

Apparently, this whole vacation thing is intended for Manilka. A guy that they rejected for being too persistent gave them this trip as a gift and also for them to spend the time together, alone on this island. They got to keep the plane ticket and asked for more. Since the guy was so whipped, he obliged. Little did he know that he got fooled by Manilka who doesn't even have a thing for him.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

I got back to my senses when Marceu tapped my shoulder. I didn't know that I was spacing out. Hawak-hawak ko ang isang plastic na puno ng barbecue stick at papunta na sana sa cottage kung saan nakaset-up ang mga lulutuin ngunit dahil sa mga iniiisip ay hindi ko namalayang napatulala na pala ako. Humarap sa akin si Patricia. Napaatras pa ako ng kaunti dahil nakatutok sa akin ang matulis na bahagi ng barbecue stick. Napansin niya iyon at nagsorry pagkatapos. "Did he tell you about the time you woke up from the surgery? That was the first time I've seen him smile genuinely. Parang kinikilig pa nga."

"Why? What happened?" Nagkatinginan ang mga ito habang ako naman ay palipat-lipat ang tingin sa dalawa. "Can you please tell me what's going on so I can grasp on what we're talking about? I don't like looking stupid in front of you both. "

Natigil ang dalawa sa pag-uusap gamit ang kanilang mga mata. Patricia was about to speak but her eyes shifted to my behind. Maybe I'll ask him instead. But will I get the answers that I wanted to hear?

"Spill it. I know you have a question for me." Marceu said while giving me a plate of barbecues that have been taken out from its stick. Sumubo ako ng isa bago bumaling sa kaniya ng tuluyan.

"The girls told me there's something happened when I first woke up from the surgery. I want to know..."

Nagtagal ang tingin niya sa akin. Like I did something terrible and he doesn't want me to know about it because I'll really be ashamed of it. Huwag na lang kaya? Tumayo ako at lumapit sa sulok para kumuha ng tubig.

Nabitin sa ere ang pagkuha ko ng tubig mula sa water jag. I got stunned by how deep and serious his voice was. It was as if I'm in a dimension and all I could hear is his voice. That there's no way for me to get out because the moment I try to figure out a way to escape, it'll only get deeper and I'll fall off to the core.
