My thoughts were crashed by a loud sob. Inga was crying in her mother's arms. I walked over to the group and said, "Is, she okay?" It sounded awkward, because I didn't know much about people anymore. I'd spent too long with dragons.

"Yea, she's fine, probably a bit tired." Ruffnut patted her daughter's head. The gang continued to talk about things that I didn't know of, like Berk's recent treaties and stories. I sat awkwardly on the ground not knowing what to say. Inga continued to wail. She struggled out of Ruff's arms and lay on the wood, still crying. I waited a minute; no one even seemed to notice. Once, Astrid leaned over and tried to calm Inga but she turned away and continued to sob.

She looked so miserable, a little girl with unruly dark blonde hair and big, blue, watery eyes. She looked like she felt sad and alone, like I once did.

I shuffled over the little child. She looked at me with scared eyes, squeaked and shuffled away.

"It's okay... I'm not going to hurt you!" I whispered.

She crawled a bit closer and her eyes weren't scared anymore.

"Wha's that?" she pointed to my covered face and rubbed the heel of her little hand across her eye.

"It's my head!" I said.

"No! You silly! What's on your head?" she said with a little giggle.

"It's my helmet..."

"Why do you need a helmet?" she said, shuffling closer.

"Because I can't let anyone know who I am"

Inga was leaning against my side. "huh" was all she said.

"Mander, 'm tired, but I CANT SLEEEEEP..." she whined.

I took her up in my arms and stepped down into the hold. Toothless was there, sleeping. Inga clung to my neck. I nudged Toothless awake with my foot. (my real one) and he grumbled and opened one disgruntled eye to see who had made the stupid decision of disturbing his sleep. He lifted the wing that was wrapped around him and I stepped closer, careful not to step on his tail. I sat leaning against his chest and Inga gasped.

I sat up straight. "What?!"

"Dragon..." she squeaked.

"Oh, him? He's not going to hurt you, he's my nice dragon!"

She snuggled closer to me and looked up at me with huge eyes. "Where did you get a NIGHTFURY?"

I smiled at the memory and started to tell her the story of Toothless and I. When I finally finished my tale, both Inga and Toothless were asleep. Inga was an adorable little girl with a hunger for adventure. And I would keep her safe.

I held Inga closer. My eyes started to feel tired and I too, fell asleep.

Astrid P.O.V

When we finished all the food and got tired of talking, we decided we'd go down into the hold to sleep.

I reached out my hand to Ruffnut who hauled my up and helped me limp down into the hold. When we were walking to my makeshift bed, Ruff poked my side and said, "look"

Leaned up against the dragon was the Commander, and in the Commander's arms lay Inga, fast asleep.

"Are you gonna take her?" I whispered.

"No" was her hasty reply. "She looks so peaceful, and, I don't want to go anywhere NEAR that dragon."

I shrugged my shoulders and lay on my furs.

My eyelids started to droop and I fell into a deep sleep.
