Recklessly Heroic

"I've had some... disagreements with certain people over the years." Hiccup furrowed his brows. "Like... Hm... let's see. Alvin, Dagur, Ryker, Krogan, Drago, Grimmel... Let's just say that we all had different opinions."

"You are one hundred percent crazy."

"Crazy? I would more say, recklessly heroic."

"And let me guess, these disagreements are about dragons?"

"What?! I can't just leave them to be killed! They are NOT what we think they are, they are loyal, trustworthy, protective, amazing creatures!"

"If you say so." Astrid said as she bound the cut on Hiccup's arm with a long cloth.

"What? No arguments?"

"Well, really, I'm just trying to keep this conversation going, because it's distracting you from all the pain you're in."

"I- oh."

"Now let's deal with that-" She gently touched the wound on Hiccup's back and he hissed.

"I'm going to try and fix this, just don't, kill me."

" I'll try."

She lightly wiped the gash clean, Hiccup still occasionally hissing and whimpering. She wrapped a long bandage around his body, constantly shifting positions to avoid hit being hit when Hiccup lashed out because he was in pain.

"Done!" Astrid said cheerfully.

"Good."

"You can stay here and rest while-"

"Rest?! I do NOT have time for rest! I have things to do!"

"Well, those things can wait; you are staying here, and resting, cutie."

"Don't you even start-"

"How about, you stay here and rest and I won't call you that."

"Fine! But take note, I am doing this once, and once only. I'll get up and out of here by my own accord, when I want to."

"Sounds good to me."

Astrid placed the crate of medicines and bandages back and the corner, and picked up Hiccup's bloody pile of clothes. She left the room, closing the door softly.

Rest? What was she thinking? He didn't need rest...

Hiccup lay back on the slightly blood-stained sheepskin, staring at the stone ceiling. He wasn't going to sleep, there were too many things on his mind. He gingerly got out of bed and walked to a set of shelves.

He ran his fingers along a line of many sketchbooks, until he got to the one on the far right. This sketchbook was empty, waiting to be filled.

He located a charcoal pencil and lay back on the bed, wincing slightly. Before he could even know what he was drawing, his hand glided over the page, etching lines into the paper. He printed a braid flicked over a shoulder, big, beautiful eyes and a double headed battle-axe. Of course, he had drawn Astrid.

He flipped over to a clean page and began to draw big, brown eyes of a little girl, this was the start of a drawing of Inga.

Soon, there was a drawing of each of the gang, imprinted on the pages of the sketchbook, which was now no longer empty.

Hiccup looked at the wooden hatch in his wall. He really had a lot to do. Along with load of training... he didn't have any more time for resting. He climbed out of bed and pulled on another, clean, red tunic. He unclicked the latch holding the hatch closed and advanced out of the mountain.

He dropped to the base of the rock hill and entered his training area.
