When Hiccup and Astrid entered the mountain, the twins, Snotlout and Fishlegs turned and looked expectantly at them. Inga just smiled and clapped, because she had no idea what was going on.
"And where have you been?" Ruff interrogated.
Hiccup brushed off her cross-examining tone. "Morning jobs."
"Is that all?" Ruff grilled.
Hiccup's tenor was stony and cold. "Yes."
A green and yellow nadder came soaring into the mountain and began squawking frantically.
"Gah, Cr@p... Challenger," He pointed to the nadder. "Wake the sentinels, and get the night terrors in their first formation!"
"What's wrong?" Astrid asked.
"Grimmel sent out a fleet of 50 ships..."
"Well then , let's go!"
Hiccup's shoulders tensed. "Astrid, you guys are NOT coming with me. It's far too dangerous!"
"Aw come on! We are Vikings! It's an occupational hazard! We can take 'em!" Snotlout chanted.
"You can't even control your dragons yet, let alone blow ships to pieces! Stay."
Hiccup woke the sleeping night fury in the corner of the room and left the mountain.
Challenger was right. 50,heavily armed ships in a deadly diamond formation. Hiccup knew the drill. Wait for the distraction, the fire.
The Night terrors merged, to make a large, black dragon. They screeched in sync, catching the Hunter's attention. Showtime.
The back 40 ships were obliterated in record time. Hiccup and toothless took out the smallest nine ships, blowing out the bottoms and sinking them.
The biggest ship last. Defeater was carved into the side. What a lame title. Hiccup and Toothless landed on the Deck. The defeater was fully dragon-proof, so the only way to stop them, was either to tip the people into the ocean... or kill them.
"Hello 'iccup..." A hunter with a sword sneered.
"Hi." Hiccup answered, knocking him out with just his fist. "Pathetic."
A hunter aimed an arrow at Hiccup's side. He Pulled the string back, but keeping his hand steady so he didn't lose his target. He released the arrow at a certain unsuspecting Haddock boy. He didn't miss. The arrow dug itself into his side and he winced, but kept throwing men into the sea.
" Toothless, take out the archers!"
Toothless climbed the higher deck, eliminating unwanted archers. Soon, Hiccup was just left with 1 hand-combat man. He held a battle-axe, wielding it, about to strike Hiccup with it. His First strike was blocked and dodged by the dragon rider. Hiccup hated to do this, but it was the only way. He slashed his Dragon blade (now inferno) through the offender's neck, spraying himself with hot, black blood. The man's eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fell, lifeless to the deck of the ship, blood filling his mouth. Hiccup felt horrible, A man, probably forced to do this sadistic job, was just murdered in cold blood, by him. The man might have had a family, and only was a dragon hunter so he could feed his kin. The moment between life and death was so short.
A shadow loomed over Hiccup. He didn't have enough time to register what was happening before the blade of a sword tore through the flesh on his back. He whimpered and spun around. The made he had knocked out earlier, had woken. The Dragon rider and dragon hunter both circled each other, taunting the other with curses and insults.
