Invisible boy
I looked at his had strerched out in front of me. Nagpabalik-balik ang tingin ko sakaniya saka sa nakalahad niyang kamay dahil hindi ko maintindihan ang sinasabi niya.
"Who?" Nakakunot noong tanong ko.
"Invisible boy" He repeated then laugh, ibinaba na niya ang kamay niya.
"I don't get it"
"Of course you don't, Hindi mo naman ako napapansin no'n e" He said then laugh again, but this time halatang pinipilit niya nalang.
"I was your neighbor noong nakatira pa kayo ng mga magulang mo sa america" Neighbor? I can't remember him.
"Lagi akong nasainyo no'n, papansin lang..." He said then laugh "Minsan nakaupo ako sa sanga ng puno ng bakuran namin tinitignan ka, habang nag susulat ng kung ano" I stared at him, confused. Why can't I remember him?
"I always asked you questions, or even tell you about my day or a short story pero ikaw dedma lang. Like I'm invisible and you can't see me" I did that?
"Your mom always apologize because of that behavior of yours. She explained that you only miss your only friend who's left in the Philippines and that you have a heart diseas, that's why you don't entertain me" My tears dropped. Bakit.... Bakit hindi ko siya maalala?
"I always say that its ok because I understand and I really wanted to be your friend.... Even though you ignore me I always tell you about my day, to entertain you" He laugh. "One time you glanced at me and said "get lost" but I didn't mind what you said. I was so happy that day because for the first time you glanced at me" My tears continued to flow as I thought of what he was saying.
"Then a week passed, It was the day of your surgery. I talked to you and said "you should fight" then you glanced at me again and smiled, that smile of yours really made my whole week. But after the surgery your mom said that the doctors wasn't really sure if the surgery was successful and that you need to go back to the Phillipines...."
"I understand why you needed to go back to Philippines. Before the day you left, I promised you that I will find you and when I became successful in life.... when I become a cardiologist I will find you so I can be the one who will perform the surgery and that I will make sure its successful" I covered my mouth, suppressing my sobbing.
"Kahapon noong nakita ko ang mga ngiti mo habang kausap si Shawn, I was so happy at the same time I was jealous..." He gave me bitter smile.
"Nagseselos ako kase mabuti pa siya naalala mo kahit ganoong kaliit na detalye lang. Mabuti pa siya naisipan mong hanapin kahit wala ka naman talagang alam kung nasaan siya. Yesterday I was wishing na sana... Sana ako din naaalala mo kahit konting detalye lang. Sana ako din hinanap mo kahit hindi mo ako ganoong natatandaan. Sana... Sana ako din naaalala mo na naging kaibigan mo 'ko.... " He slightly smiled at me. That smile of him broke my heart. Kitang-kita sa mga mata niya na nasaktan siya kahit may mga ngiti sa labi niya.
"Pero hindi naman kita masisi kung hindi mo 'ko maalala, dahil wala naman akong magagawa kung ganon. At least for me I remember everything about you. Every memories with you" He smiled again, this time his smile wasn't fake, hindi pilit ang kaniyang ngiti.
"I-I'm sorry" that was the only thing I could say. I'm out of words. He smiled at me then he wiped my tears using his thumb.
"You don't have to be sorry, ry. Sa mga araw na 'yon masaya ako kahit hindi mo 'ko pinapansin. You always make my day when I see you smile at the sky" He said then hugged me.
"You're that woman ry" He said then broke away from the hug and smiled at me. I'm the girl he was looking for but he wasn't the boy I was looking for. Parang ang unfair ko naman.
"You're the woman I love from the very beginning" He said then leaned on me to give me a forehead kiss then he hugged me. I closed my eyes and hugged him.
I did not realize I fell asleep in his arms. Nagising na lang ako na nasa kama na 'ko ng tinutuluyan kong kwarto. I took a bath and then went outside to eat breakfast. Naabutan ko si Ash na nagsusunbathing kaya naman tumabi ako sakaniya.
"Kumusta Mrs. Perez?" Tanong ko saka ngumisi. Tumawa naman siya saka umupo ng maayos.
"So anong nangyari kahapon?" Tanong niya.
"Anong nangyare?"
"Hoy 'wag ka mag deny, sabi ni Eric imbitado daw yung naging kababata mo"
"Oh... si Shawn. Yeah, He was here with his family. Pinsan pala niya si Alex"
"Family?! Kasal na siya?!"
"Mmm.." I nodded "They already have a son" I smiled as I remember the face of their son.
I heard her whisper "buti naman" but I'm not sure if 'yon talaga ang sinabi niya. Nagpatuloy kami sa pagkukwentuhan. She was about to tell me what happened to their honeymoon but I covered my ears then walked away. Nang hapon ay nagsiuwian na kami, halos alas siyete na ng gabi ng makabalik kami sa bahay ni Alex.
"Hoy, kakain kapa ba?" Tanong niya kaya naman ako napahinto sa pag-akyat ng hagdan.
"Hindi na, matutulog na 'ko" sagot ko saka na nagpatuloy sa pag-akyat.
Nang magising ako ay wala na si Alex sa bahay. Nagtext siya sa'kin na nagkaroon daw ng emergency sa hospital kaya kinailangan niyang pumunta.
Natapos ang buong araw na wala akong ginawa kundi ang manood ng kdrama. It was addicting you know, try to watch "It's ok not to be ok: It will make you cry. Walang agawan kay moon gang-tae ah, asawa ko 'yan nag recommend lang ako. Hanggang mag gabi ay hindi pa rin umuuwi si Alex. I think it was really an emergency, baka nagkaroon ng aksidente kaya madaming pasyente.
I woke up around six am. Nang pumunta ako sa guest room para tignan kung nandoon na si Alex ay naka-lock ang pinto, baka natutulog ito kaya hindi na 'ko kumatok at nagluto nalang ng agahan. Umakyat muli ako sa taas para gisingin siya.
"Lex" I said then knocked.
"Lex"
"Lex!" I repeated then knocked a little harder. Nang wala pa ring sumagot ay nagaalala na 'kong pumunta sa baba at kinuha ang susi para sa guest room.
As soon as I got the key I ran upstairs and hurriedly opened the door. When it opened I immediately walked closer to Alex who was lying on the bed. I grabbed him by both shoulders then shook slightly.
"Lex" I worriedly said as I shook him. Dahan dahan siyang nagmulat ng mata saka napahawak sa kaniyang ulo.
"What?" He lazily asked.
"Bakit tulog mantika ka? Kanina pa 'ko kumakatok! Akala ko kung ano na ang nangyari sayong hayop ka!" I said in an angry tone. He was about to say something but suddenly run toward the bathroom. Tumayo ako saka naglakad papunta sa banyo kung nasaan siya.
"That's it we're going to the hospital" I said then the bathroom door opened.
"I'm fine I jut need to rest" He said while holding his head.
"No you are not fine. Ilang araw na kitang napapansing ganyan and I can say na hindi dahil sa kalasingan 'yan. Get dress we're going to the hospital"
